Pack Triage is for modpack makers and server owners. Every time the server starts or runs /reload, it reads the warnings and errors that were logged, throws away the usual noise, and tells you what is actually broken, grouped by the mod responsible.
A big pack logs hundreds of warnings at startup, and the real problems (a loot table that fails to load, a tag pointing at a mod you removed) are easy to miss. Most of them don't crash anything: they just quietly leave chests empty or recipes missing.
What it finds
- Broken data files: loot tables, recipes, advancements and mod data that failed to load, with the reason (usually an item or mob from a mod that isn't installed).
- Missing tag entries: tags that point at things that don't exist, and tags that are used but never defined.
- Spawn setup mistakes: mobs added to biomes under the wrong category, which upsets mob caps. One line per mob, with the number of biomes, instead of hundreds of log lines.
- Other errors mods logged while loading.
It ignores the noise: mixin refmap notices, jar-in-jar messages, "can't keep up" and the like.
How you see it
/triage(operators) shows a summary by kind and mod. Click a mod to see its problems, or use/triage <mod>.- Operators get a one-line note when they join if the last load had problems, and again after
/reload. logs/pack-triage.mdhas the full report after every load, ready to read or paste into an issue.
Real example from a 180-mod pack: Pack Triage turned about a thousand warning lines into 5 broken loot tables, 4 broken advancements, 21 missing tags and 6 misconfigured mob spawns, each with the mod to blame.
Setup
Install it on the server (or in singleplayer). Players don't need it. Server config (serverconfig/packtriage-server.toml): notifyOperators and writeReport, both on by default.
Compatibility
Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1. Server-side. No other mods needed.
Modpacks
You may include Pack Triage in any modpack, as long as the pack downloads it from this page (or Modrinth). No need to ask.
