What's new

Mobile Networks: IoT Addon — 1.2.0

Added

  • Forester: grows trees, analyzes trunks and natural canopies, collects harvested materials and replants using real saplings.
  • Fast Miner: performs mining actions five times as frequently as the standard Miner, with six propellers, a larger drill and direct IoT deposits. Searches for network coverage near home when it needs to unload.
  • Builder and Architect Table: import and export .litematic files through the world's Schemas folder. Includes a 50% opacity preview, position adjustments, rotation, mirroring, area clearing and construction from the bottom layer upward, consuming real materials.
  • Sentinel: patrols a selected area and fights mobs that threaten players, animals, villagers and other NPCs.
  • Multidimensional Beacon: connects dimensions through the existing network. Limited to one per dimension and keeps its own chunk loaded.
  • Smart Glasses: diamond helmet protection, a glasses model, signal/coordinates/time/biome HUD, target inspection, shortcuts, empty-hand configuration and GPS integration with Maps.
  • IoT Helper: step-by-step instructions for every addon item, with access to its actual crafting recipes.
  • A dedicated IoT phone app icon and device-name search across all device pages.

Fixed and improved

  • Storage now displays item durability bars and complete native tooltips.
  • Fixed crafting ingredients remaining visible as ghost items when there are not enough materials to repeat a recipe.
  • Closing the storage crafting screen returns ingredients to IoT storage. Transfer arrows move the crafting grid contents to the player's inventory or back to IoT storage.
  • Item quantities display up to three significant digits.
  • Miners recheck their assigned area before completing a job, catching blocks that fall into previously cleared sections.
  • Improved work distribution between Miners and Fast Miners, with five traversal strategies and a preference for available paths that avoid unnecessary block breaking.
  • Improved Farmer soil preparation and irrigation. Added checkerboard planting for sugar cane and cactus, root preservation during harvesting, and nether wart farming on soul sand.
  • Body Guard avoids blocking the player in spaces with low ceilings.
  • Camera and TV feeds preserve machine models and textures.
  • Idle machines release their chunks, while storage wakes for transactions. JFR profiling guided reductions in redundant work and pathfinding without reducing machine action frequency.

Compatibility and requirements

  • Verified with Sodium 0.8.13, Lithium 0.15.4, FerriteCore 7.0.3 and Spark 1.10.124, including actual Spark profile exports from the client and server.
  • Requires Minecraft 1.21.1, Java 21, NeoForge 21.1.238 and the exact supplied MobileNetworks 4.0.3 build with its dependencies.
  • Network protocol 24. Install the same addon version on both client and server.

Development history (before the first release)

Mobile Networks: IoT Addon — 0.0.1 Alpha

  • TV/phone camera coexistence: TV camera feeds now have independent, bounded terrain worker buffers. Pending GPU uploads are serviced every frame, including while phone viewing pauses TV drawing and while TV images update at 1 FPS. Retired feed workers are drained before their native buffers are freed. Regression exercises two TV cameras plus a miner, both cameras on the phone, stable TV sessions and compiled terrain.

First community testing build for Minecraft 1.21.1 and Mobile Networks 4.0.2.

Added

  • Energy and model corrections (protocol 21): Central area/chest marking now sends one atomic request instead of losing its second packet to the network throttle. Solar Charger gains a dedicated five-device dashboard with synchronized sunlight, FE reserve and per-device battery readings, including large modded capacities. Multitool and Charger use public FE capabilities and FE labels; modern RF devices exposing that capability interoperate. Own PNGs are 32×32; Charger, Crafter and Central models have no overlapping coplanar faces.

  • Interface and workflow revision (protocol 20): 20×7 Storage grid with continuous scrolling, compact ID/QNT/A-Z sorting and craftable quantity markers; visual Multitool whitelist/blacklist over the shared ore tag, Slow/Medium/Fast labels; 20 directly selectable Crafter slots with optional JEI/EMI ghost-recipe transfer; saved Central configuration, guided area/chest selection, unrestricted world-valid areas and individual deposit/return-home flows. Full solar charging cube fixes floor occlusion; distinct Crafter/Central silhouettes, new tool/tablet sprites and reviewed machine inventory views. NeoForge 21.1.238, supplied JEI 19.57.0.451.

  • Compatibility upgrade (protocol 19): exact MobileNetworks 4.0.2 dependency; public sided item capabilities on storage and machines; transactional inventory transfers including large modded bins; common material/ore tags and reloadable crop rules; per-pattern Ingredient equivalence with validated recursive crafting; persistent FE receivers and configurable machine consumption; normal protected block breaking and final modded drops. Optional native JEI/EMI crafting stations and owner-only Jade status. Oversized base JSON fields are chunked for safe NBT persistence; see migration limits and tested versions in docs/COMPATIBILITY.md.

  • Automation upgrade (protocol 18): Storage crafting grid and ID/quantity/name sorting; Miner Central with disjoint worker assignments and phone completion notices; Smart Multitool with 5,000 energy, three speeds, personal vein whitelist and clustered drops; solar Charger and Storage Tablet; twenty-pattern IoT Crafter with transactional recipe-tree planning, surplus/remainder recovery and phone failure notices. Ports support sided NeoForge/vanilla inventories and stay outside the IoT device list. Cables use netherrack hardness, quantities round to one decimal, drives gain KB, rack blades extend to the back and capacity shows free percentage. Moving machines ignore liquids and mining stops at -59. Details and future machine ideas: docs/AUTOMATION-UPGRADE.md.

  • Storage phone app: owning a Storage Hub unlocks a home-screen app with the hub icon. Opens the nearest available owned hub on the phone network directly in its existing inventory menu. Uses existing remote signal, plan and ownership checks; Back returns home. Availability refreshes while the phone is open; protocol 17.

  • TV readability and terrain: machine dashboards now render natively at 768×512, with larger inventory icons and preserved physical text size. Camera feeds retain 192×128 and existing frame limits. TV cameras use the same 2–32 chunk radius policy as normal cameras, including live cache resize before streaming new outer chunks. Protocol remains 16.

  • Unified addon interfaces: TV and rack now use the original ingame phone shell, fixed scaling, navigation and controls. TV sources/position tabs, selected-panel highlight, disabled duplicate sources, descriptive tooltips and page counts. Rack retains server-backed drive/inventory interactions. All editable addon forms share phone-colored fields and focus indicators. Protocol remains 16.

  • Camera/TV revision: camera vertical tilt now reaches ±90° while preserving old block states; horizontal/TV angles stay at ±45°. Drive tooltips omit the internal byte rule. TVs are hidden from the IoT list and support mixed camera/miner/farmer/caretaker panels with live read-only action, location and inventory. Nearby sessions survive looking away, with background drawing capped at 1 FPS. Terrain loading continues independently, respects client render distance up to 16 chunks and uses a matching projection/cache. Changing a panel preserves other feeds. Protocol 16.

  • IoT device grid: two columns with continuous vertical scrolling and a draggable scrollbar. Server pages load automatically; device order changes invalidate cached cards. Shared empty-state/settings/error copy now describes all IoT devices in Portuguese and English. TV/rack cards explain screwdriver access.

  • Compact quantities: item totals and tooltips use uppercase K/M/B with three significant digits, truncated without rounding; values up to 999 remain whole. Drive/rack usage and capacity use decimal MB/GB/TB, with small usage shown in bytes or fractional MB. Stored counts retain full precision.

  • Rack 44U: iron-only 1×1×3 structure, up to eleven 4U Empty JBOD blades and ten drives per blade. Owner-only screwdriver hardware menu, visual blades/drive bays, portable persistent drives, capacities from 100 MB to 1 TB (one item per byte), and progressive recipes including a Nether star for 1 TB. Wired Storage/Connector discovery; Storage stock, organization, importer/exporter and cursor transfers include the drives. Stock quantities now use 64 bits. Addon protocol 15.

  • TV: thin 3×2-block panel with four camera feeds in a 2×2 grid, each at 1.5:1. Floor, wall and ceiling mounting, with screwdriver-controlled panel pitch/yaw (−45°, 0°, +45°) and occupied-space checks. Camera selection only lists owned cameras; duplicates are rejected. Feeds render at 192×128 with an independent 30 FPS ceiling. Persistent selection, signal loss/recovery, resource cleanup and a single drop when any part is broken. Addon network protocol currently 15.

  • IoT phone app: browse your devices and check their names, locations, signal and activity before opening their individual screens.

  • Camera: live remote viewing, floor/wall/ceiling mounting and screwdriver-controlled angles. Uses the client's render distance up to 32 chunks, loads remote terrain and supports cross-dimension viewing when valid coverage is available at both ends.

  • Miner: mining drone with Tunnel, Level and Mine modes, a 27-slot inventory, filters, return-home controls and physical delivery to a chest.

  • Farmer: soil preparation, farmland repair, planting, harvesting and replanting for wheat, carrots, potatoes and beetroot, with supply and delivery chests.

  • Animal Caretaker: automated feeding and breeding for cows, sheep, pigs and chickens, with configurable population limits.

  • Storage Hub: combined chest inventory through IoT cables, item quantities, name/mod/tag search and normal cursor-based withdrawal/deposit.

  • Storage Connector: links a separate cabled chest network to a main hub through valid cellular service.

  • Item Exporter: maintains configured item quantities in an attached chest. Empty filters export nothing.

  • Item Importer: imports matching items from an attached chest. Empty filters import all items; quantities are not configurable.

  • Network Analyzer: handheld coverage map for the network selected on the player's phone.

  • Guided area and chest selection using the original Mobile Networks screwdriver.

  • Player-owned devices with names unique within each player's device list.

Behavior and compatibility

  • Devices inherit the owner's phone operator and plan, including automatic operator changes.
  • Remote access requires valid service and local signal. Suspended plans block connectivity; autonomous machines can continue existing tasks without remote control.
  • Updated signal selection, plan limits, signal bars and underwater attenuation for Mobile Networks 4.0.1.
  • Farmer and Animal Caretaker remain entities while active or waiting; Stop requests a safe return to block form.
  • Machines move one block at a time with animated turns and movement.
  • Survival and multiplayer support without requiring OP. Camera viewing keeps the player's physical position unchanged.

Fixes

  • Fixed the Farmer becoming stuck when a crop grows in the block it occupies. It can harvest and replant that crop without moving away.
  • Fixed missing or incorrect Farmer and Animal Caretaker models in camera feeds while they are entities.
  • Improved camera opening by reducing synchronous terrain preparation and sharing neither the player's terrain cache nor its rendering workers.
  • Improved Farmer handling of snow, grass, irrigation channels, farmland damage and replanting at high random tick speeds.

Requirements

  • Minecraft Java Edition: 1.21.1.
  • Java: 21.
  • Loader: NeoForge 21.1.238 or later.
  • Required base mod: exactly Mobile Networks 4.0.1, using the matching JAR.
  • Simple Voice Chat: 1.21.1-2.6.22, used with the base mod.
  • Install the same addon build and compatible dependencies on both client and server.

Testing notes

This is an early Alpha intended for community testing. Camera FPS and terrain loading depend on client hardware, connection and server performance. Farmer and Animal Caretaker routes require accessible terrain at their placement height.

Validation included 24 unit tests, 83 server GameTests and in-game camera tests at 1920×1080 with GUI Scale Auto, 12/32 chunks, repeated reopening and resource reloads. Natural crop growth in the Farmer's occupied block was tested with randomTickSpeed 2000.

Please include reproduction steps, mod versions and logs when reporting a bug. For camera or movement issues, include a short video.
