Mobile Networks: IoT Addon
Turn your in-game phone into a control center for cameras, autonomous machines and connected storage.
Mobile Networks: IoT Addon expands Mobile Networks with an IoT app on its existing mobile phone. Browse your devices, check their location, signal and activity, then open a device to view its feed, inventory or controls.
Version 1.0.0 — the first full release.
Devices and tools
Camera
- Watch a live feed from your phone without teleporting your character.
- Mount cameras on floors, walls or ceilings.
- Adjust tilt and rotation with the Mobile Networks screwdriver.
- Uses your client's render distance, up to 32 chunks, and loads remote terrain while the feed is open.
- Supports viewing across dimensions when the phone and camera both have valid coverage on the same inherited network.
TV
A thin, 3-block-wide × 2-block-high camera monitor. Display four different owned cameras in a 2×2 grid, with a 1.5:1 aspect ratio for each image. Use the Mobile Networks screwdriver on the TV to select or clear cameras. The TV and cameras follow the owner's inherited network, coverage and plan rules.
Miner
A moving mining drone with three modes:
- Tunnel: digs a straight 3×2 passage.
- Level: clears up to ten layers above the selected Y level within the marked area.
- Mine: excavates the volume between two selected corners, prioritizing non-air blocks.
The miner has a 27-slot inventory, inclusion/exclusion filters and a return-home command. It travels physically to its drop-off chest and moves one block at a time. Mining uses normal, unenchanted drops; XP is discarded.
Farmer
Mark a flat farming area and supply seeds to automate wheat, carrots, potatoes or beetroot. The farmer prepares suitable soil, restores lost farmland, plants, harvests mature crops and replants. It travels to its supply and delivery chests and moves through crops without trampling them. Irrigation is supplied by the player.
Animal Caretaker
Manage breeding for cows, sheep, pigs and chickens using real food from a supply chest. Set population limits for each species and let the caretaker feed eligible adult pairs. It counts existing babies and waits when food or eligible animals are unavailable.
Storage Hub and Storage Connector
Connect inventories with IoT cables and browse their combined stock in one interface. Matching items are displayed with a total quantity across connected inventories.
- Search by item name,
@modor#tag. - Withdraw and deposit items with the cursor, like a normal chest.
- Use a Storage Connector to link a separate, cabled chest network to your main hub through cellular coverage.
- Craft in the built-in 3×3 grid and sort stock by ID, quantity or name.
Items remain in the connected chests; the hub acts as their shared interface.
Item Exporter and Item Importer
Attach a port to an inventory face and connect its other side by cable to a Storage Hub or linked Storage Connector. Vanilla inventories and mod inventories exposing NeoForge item capabilities are supported, with their sided rules.
- Exporter: keeps selected items at their configured target quantities in the attached chest. An empty filter exports nothing.
- Importer: moves matching items into the storage system. An empty filter imports everything; quantities are not configurable.
- Configure ghost filters using items on your cursor without consuming the real stack.
Network Analyzer
Hold the analyzer to see a coverage map for the network selected on your phone. Use it to find signal gaps and choose locations for your IoT devices.
New automation tools
- Miner Central: analyzes the entire selected area, ignores air and liquids, and assigns separate sectors to miners based on mineable block counts. Saves guided area/chest selections and tracks completion. Workers deposit their items and return to the individual home captured at dispatch. A group Home command recalls all workers.
- IoT Crafter: stores twenty selectable patterns in two columns of ten and supplies missing Exporter items through recursive crafting. JEI/EMI recipe transfer copies ghost templates into the selected pattern. Each pattern can use exact items or equivalent recipe ingredients. Missing materials trigger a phone notification.
- Smart Multitool: pickaxe, axe and shovel with netherite harvesting and a 5,000 FE battery. Slow, Medium and Fast modes cost 1/2/3 FE per block. Optional vein mining uses an internal ore tag refined by personal sprite-based whitelists and blacklists, and gathers drops at the original block.
- Solar Charger: FE charging station with a live buffer, sunlight status and five device energy bars. Generates 100 FE/t, stores 20,000 FE and charges up to 500 FE/t per slot, subject to available energy. Receives and supplies FE through standard capabilities; charges compatible items during the day with a clear solar path.
- Storage Tablet: opens your available Storage Hub directly.
Mod integrations
Storage and machines expose standard automation inventories. Moving machines can receive FE, with configurable energy consumption. Farmers support additional crop rules through datapacks; recipes use common material tags. Machine actions respect protection events and final drops from other mods. Optional JEI/EMI crafting stations and Jade status are included. Compatibility depends on other mods exposing the standard inventory or energy interfaces used for automation.
Your phone, your network
Devices inherit their owner's phone operator and plan. Remote access requires valid service and signal at both ends. A suspended plan or missing coverage blocks access; autonomous machines can continue tasks already started without remote control.
Devices belong to their player, and names must be unique within that player's device list. Different players can use the same names.
The addon works in survival and multiplayer without requiring OP. Your character stays in the world while watching a camera and remains exposed to normal gameplay.
Getting started
- Install the required mods on both the client and server.
- Set up your Mobile Networks phone, operator and service.
- Craft and place an IoT device.
- Use the original Mobile Networks screwdriver for local configuration and guided area/chest selection.
- Open Phone → IoT, choose a device from the list and access its screen.
Requirements
| Component | Version |
|---|---|
| Minecraft Java Edition | 1.21.1 |
| NeoForge | 21.1.238 or later |
| Java | 21 |
| Mobile Networks | Exactly 4.0.2 |
| Simple Voice Chat | 1.21.1-2.6.22, used with the base mod |
Use the same addon build and compatible dependencies on the client and server. Version 1.0.0 requires Mobile Networks 4.0.2.
Bug reports
Please report bugs with:
- Minecraft, loader and mod versions.
- Steps to reproduce the problem and what you expected to happen.
- The relevant log or crash report.
- A short video for camera, animation or movement issues.
For machine pathfinding problems, include the marked area and the positions of nearby obstacles and chests. Camera frame rates and initial terrain loading depend on the client, connection and server performance. Farmer and caretaker routes currently require accessible terrain at their placement height.
