What's new

A modern NeoForge rewrite of the classic MobHealth plugin. When you damage a mob, MobHealth shows the damage dealt and the mob's remaining health.

Four Minecraft versions — pick the jar that matches yours.

Minecraft NeoForge Java File
1.21.11 any 21.11 21 mobhealth-2.5.2+mc1.21.11.jar
26.1.2 any 26.1 25 mobhealth-2.5.2+mc26.1.2.jar
26.2 any 26.2 25 mobhealth-2.5.2+mc26.2.jar
26.3 any 26.3 25 mobhealth-2.5.2+mc26.3.jar

Drop the jar into your mods/ folder (client and/or server). Works server-only, client-only, or both.

Vanilla clients are no longer kicked

With MobHealth on the server alone, a player joining from an unmodified vanilla client could be dropped on login with "Invalid player data" — the opposite of what the mod promises. The server was sending MobHealth's own packets (the graphical-bar settings, damage numbers and toasts) to clients that had never agreed to receive them, and NeoForge refuses that by throwing. The same fault could also break damage handling when a vanilla player stood near a hit, and made /mobhealth reload fail while a vanilla player was online.

Those packets now go only to players who have MobHealth installed. Vanilla players get the modes that were always meant for them — chat, action bar, nameplate and boss bar — and modded players get everything, as before. No config changes.

Tested with a vanilla 1.21.11 client joining a dedicated server: login, combat with toasts and damage numbers enabled, and /mobhealth reload with the vanilla player online.

Smaller changes

  • /mobhealth toggle no longer lists "chat & boss bar" as the modes it hides — it had been hiding toasts, the action bar and damage numbers too. It now names only the one thing it cannot hide: the nameplate.
  • The startup log names the exact build that ran, e.g. MobHealth 2.5.2 (build 1a2b3c4d on main, …). If you report a bug, that line helps.

Everything else

Unchanged from 2.5.1. Seven display modes — chat, action bar, toast, nameplate, boss bar, graphical bars, and floating damage numbers — with per-group and per-entity targeting; four of them work for vanilla clients with the mod on the server alone.

26.3 added 2026-09-29 — the same 2.5.2 code, built for Minecraft 26.3 (NeoForge 26.3.0.33-beta and later).

⚠ The 26.x jars have had far less play-testing than the 1.21.11 one. They carry the identical fix. If something looks wrong, please open an issue.
