Mnemosyne: Lost Echoes
⚠️ Beta
This mod is still under active development and should be treated as a beta. The first chapter is playable, but content, mechanics, world generation and save formats can still change between versions, worlds may need to be recreated after an update. Please report problems and ideas in the comments.
Beneath the ordinary Overworld lies a forgotten network of archives, workshops and sealed research sites. It preserves the technology of a civilization whose fragments drifted to the surface over thousands of years, and turned into myths, legends and supposedly divine artifacts.
You discover that network together with a damaged mechanical companion: Echo. You watch echoes of the past, understand the lost technology they show you, find the missing components, and rebuild devices that open up new places and abilities.
Discover a place → watch an echo → understand the mechanism → find components → repair the device → unlock the next place.
🏛️ ModJam 2026 — "Echoes of the Past"
This mod is an entry for the CurseForge ModJam 2026, whose theme is Echoes of the Past.
Instead of using history as scenery, the theme is the core mechanic here:
- Echoes are the central gameplay verb. You do not read a lore book, you observe a recorded moment of the past and have to reproduce what it showed you.
- Your companion is an echo. Echo is a surviving remnant of that civilization, with its own memory damaged and incomplete.
- History is stratigraphy, not decoration. People from different eras searched for the same place, and their traces lie layered on top of each other.
- Myths are misunderstood technology. The archive explains where the legends actually came from — history gets actively read, not just looked at.
📦 Requirements
Both dependencies are required and must be installed alongside this mod on client and server:
- Easy NPC: Core — dialog, story conditions and companion behavior
- Easy Model Entities — the animated model of the Echo companion
Compatibility
This branch targets Minecraft 26.2 and provides loader-specific modules for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge.
Install the matching loader build on both client and server when playing in multiplayer.
