What's new

[1.6.3] - 2026-09-07 — Map Atlases, Stability & Quest Fixes

A major refinement update focused on quest reliability, map integration, rewards, guidance, and datapack safety.

Added

  • Added full optional Map Atlases integration, alongside JourneyMap and Xaero.
  • Quest destinations can now appear on the Atlas world map, minimap, and held atlas.
  • Added separate Show in Map and Save Pin actions for supported map mods.
  • Added new Map Atlases settings for markers, labels, navigation, coverage, scale, and performance.
  • Added 10 complete sample datapacks covering quests, chains, projects, situations, reputation, titles, and optional-mod integrations.
  • Added admin tools for viewing and retrying pending project rewards.

Improved

  • Quest rewards are now much safer when inventories are full, players are offline, or content changes between updates.
  • Project rewards preserve their original payout and can be recovered instead of being silently lost.
  • Item hand-ins now verify inventory space and required items before consuming anything.
  • Quest and project validation now rejects malformed data more reliably instead of silently ignoring broken objectives.
  • Improved handling of quest failures, deadlines, sponsor loss, weather requirements, and paused project timers.
  • Map actions now let players choose which installed map mod to use instead of sending pins to every backend at once.
  • Improved quest-log UI behavior, scrolling, coordinate actions, keybind handling, and delayed menu responses.

Fixed

  • Fixed same-profession quest turn-ins incorrectly replacing the original quest giver while they were still present.
  • Improved guidance when quest givers are unloaded or when any eligible villager can accept a completed quest.
  • Fixed several escort quest issues that could release or modify the wrong villager.
  • Cross-dimension guidance now gives proper instructions instead of pointing to meaningless coordinates in the wrong dimension.
  • Fixed healing objectives crediting villagers who were already at full health.
  • Fixed successful-use objectives for bows and crossbows.
  • Fixed sleep objectives not respecting their require_morning setting.
  • Fixed missing-relative quests completing immediately when the relative spawned instead of requiring the player to actually find them.
  • Fixed quest markers fading out when the target was directly above or below the player on another floor.
  • Fixed various reward, quest state, optional integration, minimap, and server cleanup edge cases.

Compatibility

  • Network protocol increased from 14 to 15. Clients and servers must use matching versions.
  • Map Atlases remains completely optional.
  • Save-data additions are backward-compatible and require no migration.
