1.2.2: Carving and EMC Update
Aside from bugfixes and general improvements, this update's major feature is the Simple Chisel. The chisel can be made in iron or diamond flavors. Left-clicking a block in the world will chisel it, and rightclicking will cycle through modes. No explicit support is needed for a block to be chiseled: It finds chisel targets heuristically from 1:1 recipes. So, for instance, stone crafts in a 2x2 pattern into 4 stone brick. That's 1:1, so it can be chiseled. Granite/Andesite/Diorite can also be chiseled for the same reason, as can all of the runestone blocks. Don't worry, "ChiselTeam chisel" support is never going away. The mod needs to stand comfortably on its own, and this fixes a pretty major usability problem runes had.
New rune stele were added. Berkano draws from nature and life, and can channel almost any plant material into EMC. Wunjo is attuned to victory and completion, and can consume monster trophies such as skulls. No mod I know of has really allowed EMC from skulls before, so this is a big balance question, but I feel that I've arrived at fair values, and the limited conversion targets here make it hold up in the long-run.
Other changes this version:
- Nightshade finally got the retexture it needed.
- Charset block-carry blacklisted for nightshade too now. It's dangerous to touch these plants too much O_o
- Runic Altar now drops its inventory when broken
- Many of the dynamic effects are moving to a shared draw buffer, much like FastTESR. Not that it seems to need it, but this should help boost performance a bit if you're struggling.
- Gravity Mantle has been promoted to an Effect (like beacon or potion effects). It will now work in SMP, and can be worn in the chest armor slot in addition to the body bauble slot.
You might also notice some new creative menu blocks. This is a first draft of one of the late-tier devices, a Tesla/RF energy storage crystal which holds the RF as chaos. The more RF you push into it, the more the chaos grows, and it destroys anything it touches. Much like a draconic core, it needs one or more resonator crystals pointed at it to insert or extract energy, and if at least one of those resonators are part of a rune stele network, the altar's radiance will passively boost its storage capacity. It's a complex and dangerous system, but if mastered, *if* you can contain it, it can store far more RF than you would ever believe possible.
