"[DL] a1.1.3_dream - weird leaked dev build?? (DON'T SLEEP IN IT)" -- TERRAINBOARD forums, October 17, 2010
Nine people downloaded it. Nine people slept in it. Two woke up.
You are number ten.
⚠ READ THIS FIRST
This is a horror mod. It contains:
- Loud jumpscares and sudden noise
- Flashing images and screen distortion
- Fake crashes: the game pretends to crash and can briefly go fullscreen. Nothing on your PC is touched. It is all inside Minecraft, and it always returns you to the game.
- It can show your computer's user name in-game. It never leaves your PC.
All of this can be turned off on the warning screen, and from the Lost_nightmare.jar button on the title screen (Fake crashes, Show my name, Reduced flashing).
How it starts
Install it, make a world, play normally. Then go to bed.
You wake up somewhere else. Then the next night somewhere else again. The first dreams are quiet, almost nice. Some of them look like your world. Don't get comfortable.
The fifth dream is the one they talked about on the forum.
What's inside
- 13 dreams. Peaceful ones, wrong ones, and the eight levels of a1.1.3_dream: a house that never ends, a pier over black water, a mall full of mannequins, a mine, a white room, and the way back. Every player's order is different.
- The real Alpha look. On first launch the mod downloads the original Alpha client from Mojang's own servers and reads its textures, so the old world uses the real 2010 textures. No textures are bundled.
- A tape-damaged screen: JPEG blocks, rainbow colour bleed, grain and chromatic aberration.
- Something tall in the fog. It doesn't like being looked at. Look anyway and find out what happens.
- Realistic creatures built and animated in Blender.
- A body. Look down and you see yourself. The camera has weight: it bobs, leans and dips when you land.
- Panic sprint: tap sprint to run, and tap harder as your breath runs out.
- No regeneration. No hunger, no inventory, no building in the dreams. Your real items wait for you at home.
- Original analog-horror music for every level.
- Notes and hidden lore. Read the signs. Some of them point outside the game.
- A real ending, and what happens to you every night after it.
Multiplayer
Works with friends. Everyone who sleeps goes, and everyone goes together.
