Locks Reforged 1.7.4 (Forge 1.20.1)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
[1.7.4] — September 1, 2026
Giving picks real durability in 1.7.3 had a side effect nobody wanted: Minecraft makes any durable item unstackable, so picks quietly dropped to a stack size of one and took crafting and trade yields down with them. That's undone here, and durability still works.
Fixed
Lock picks stack to 64 again. Copper, gold, iron, steel and diamond recipes are back to 2 per craft, and villagers and wandering traders sell 2 picks again at the same emerald price. Loot tables were never affected — they still roll 2–4.
Only one pick in a stack wears down. Minecraft tracks damage on the whole stack, so a damaged stack would have shown all 64 picks as worn and handed you 64 damaged picks when you split it. Instead, the first wrong pin that costs durability splits the stack for you: the pick in your hand takes the damage, and the untouched rest goes back to your inventory. Break it and only that one pick is lost — the next fresh pick is already in your hand and you keep picking.
Anvils no longer enchant a whole stack. An enchanted book on a stack of picks used to enchant all 64 for one flat 40-level cost. The result slot now stays empty unless you're holding a single pick. Enchanting, repairing and renaming a single pick works exactly as before, and the enchanting table already only took one at a time.
Notes
- A worn pick won't merge back into a fresh stack. That's deliberate — it's what keeps the damage on the one pick that earned it. Repair it at an anvil or with Mending and it stacks normally again.
- If your inventory is completely full when the split happens, the remainder drops at your feet rather than vanishing.
- Creative mode and Unbreaking are respected. If a wrong pin costs no durability, the stack isn't split for nothing.
- Worlds from 1.7.2 or earlier load unchanged, and picks carried over from them behave like any other stack.
