Locks Reforged 1.7.2 (Forge 1.20.1)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
[1.7.2]
A major quality-of-life and stability update focused on Awareness locks, villager-proof doors, optional itemless lock picking, and clearer key pairing.
Fixed Awareness Locks
- Awareness locks no longer block their own owner from using the locked chest or door.
- Owners can now interact with their locked block normally while the lock continues protecting it from everyone else.
- Sneak + right-click with an empty hand now handles opening/removing the lock itself.
- Owners can once again break their own Awareness-locked blocks.
- Fixed overlapping Awareness locks accidentally toggling each other.
- Fixed Curios key rings interfering with lock removal.
Awareness protection still applies to villagers, redstone, hoppers, pistons, explosions, and other non-owner interactions.
Locked Doors Now Stop Villagers
Fixed villagers and other door-opening AI being able to walk through locked doors.
- Locked doors now block vanilla villagers, raiders, and compatible modded mobs.
- AI can still close a locked door, but cannot open it.
- Re-locking an open door now automatically closes it.
- Placing a lock on an already-open door also closes it.
This applies to normal DoorBlock-based doors. Unusual modded doors using their own opening systems may require separate compatibility.
Optional Itemless Lock Picking
Added:
Allow Itemless Lock Picking — default off
When enabled, players can right-click a locked block with an empty main hand to play the normal lock-picking minigame without carrying a lock pick.
- No item is consumed or damaged.
- Complexity cannot prevent an itemless attempt.
- Auto-Pick is not used.
- Getting a pin wrong resets solved pins.
- Normal keys and Awareness ownership still take priority.
Physical lock picks continue to work exactly as before.
Key Pairing Improvements
Fixed several confusing issues when pairing keys with locks.
- Newly crafted locks and keys now receive their ID immediately.
- Locks taken directly from Creative Mode can now be paired without first sitting in the player's inventory.
- The pairing recipe now properly recognizes actual locks and keys instead of accepting unrelated items with similar NBT.
- Master Keys, Key Rings, and lock picks cannot accidentally be used for pairing.
- Added helpful tooltips to Key Blanks.
- Right-clicking a placed lock with a blank key now explains that pairing must happen before the lock is placed.
- Added clearer pairing instructions to the README and mod description.
Safer Lock Picking
- Lock-picking sessions now close if the player moves more than 8 blocks away.
- Spectators can no longer continue an active lock-picking session.
- Fixed malformed lock-picking packets potentially causing server errors.
- Fixed key-ring scans accidentally writing lock data into Minecraft's shared empty-item stack.
Multiplayer
Network protocol updated from 2 → 3.
Clients and servers must both use Locks Reforged 1.7.2. Mismatched versions are rejected cleanly when connecting.
