Latitude

Latitude overhauls world generation so biomes follow realistic latitude bands—from equatorial jungles to polar tundras.

What's new

Latitude 1.5.1 Beta 3 — Minecraft 26.2

New

  • Other World Types & Datapacks… — a new button on Latitude's create-world screen that opens Minecraft's normal setup screen for Superflat, datapacks, and other mods' world types, carrying your world name and seed across.
  • Vanilla… — a new button beside Create New World on the world list that jumps straight to Minecraft's own world creation, skipping Latitude's screen entirely.

Improved

  • Desert riverbank greenery (introduced in Beta 2) now follows water continuously and fades naturally with distance, forming longer green reaches instead of disconnected blobs.
  • /locate biome prefers a position whose surroundings match, reducing edge-of-biome results.

Fixed

  • Fresh worlds reserve a swamp province in almost every case. Ordinary swamp generation was never affected — swamps were never missing, and /locate always succeeded. Before this, roughly a quarter to a third of worlds simply weren't getting that reservation made. A small number of worlds can still miss it.
  • Far-polar terrain no longer shows degraded husks of tree-bearing biomes from other worldgen mods (or their decorations floating in the air): Latitude's polar ecology now recognizes treed biomes by their actual content instead of their names, and stripped vegetation can no longer strand what grew on it.
  • Shallow coastlines no longer receive deep-ocean biome identities.
  • Temperate forests no longer cross into the true desert belt.
  • Vanilla-only worlds retain valid members in every selectable rare-biome slot, preventing inappropriate cold fallbacks in warm bands.
  • Unrecognized modded beaches stay beaches rather than becoming inland biomes or bypassing swamp and mangrove placement rules.
  • Ctrl+Tab now cycles the tabbed Latitude create-world panels without leaving keyboard focus on a hidden field.

Known compatibility issue

CliffTree and TerraBlender currently cannot be used together on Minecraft 26.2, with or without Latitude. The combination fails when Minecraft saves the world. Use one or the other until the upstream compatibility issue is corrected.

World-generation changes apply to newly generated terrain.
