This is an unofficial port of Just Enough Items (JEI). JEI is made by mezz. The official JEI for Minecraft 1.21.11 is released for NeoForge and Fabric only. This project adds builds for Minecraft Forge and Quilt. It is not made or supported by mezz, so please report problems with these builds here, not on JEI's issue tracker.

What JEI does
JEI is an item and recipe viewing mod, built for stability and performance. This port is JEI 27.44.0 for Minecraft 1.21.11, with the same features as the official builds:
- Every item and fluid in a searchable list beside your inventory and other screens.
- Recipes and uses: hover an item and press R (or left-click) to see how it is made, or U (or right-click) to see what it is used for. This covers crafting, smelting, blasting, smoking, campfire cooking, stonecutting, smithing, brewing, the anvil, the grindstone, composting, fuel, and the recipes of other mods.
- Recipe transfer: the + button next to a recipe moves the ingredients from your inventory into the crafting grid.
- Bookmarks: hover an item and press A.
- Search by name, by mod (
@minecraft), by tag (#logs) and by tooltip text ($fire). Search by color (^), by id (&) and by creative tab (%) can be turned on in JEI's settings. - Cheat mode for operators and creative-mode players: Ctrl-click the wrench button below the list, then click an item to get it.
A recipe slot marked # accepts any item with that tag, such as any planks. A slot marked ≡ accepts any item from a list, such as any bed color. Hover the slot: its tooltip names the key (V by default) that shows all of them.
Default keys
- R or left-click: recipes for the hovered item. U or right-click: its uses.
- A: bookmark the hovered item.
- Ctrl+O: hide or show the item list. Ctrl+F: jump to the search box.
- In the recipe screen: PgUp and PgDn change pages, Shift+PgUp and Shift+PgDn change tabs, Backspace goes back.
All of them can be changed in Options → Controls → Key Binds.
Requirements
Forge
- Minecraft 1.21.11 with Forge 61.2.0 or newer (tested with 61.2.1).
- MezzConfig, which JEI needs, is included in the jar. Nothing else is required.
Quilt
- Minecraft 1.21.11 with Quilt Loader 0.30.1 or newer.
- Fabric API 0.139.0+1.21.11 or newer (tested with 0.141.6+1.21.11). Quilted Fabric API was not released for 1.21.11, so Quilt runs Fabric API.
- MezzConfig is included in the jar.
Download the file whose name contains -forge- for Forge, or -quilt- for Quilt.
Settings
JEI's settings screen (the wrench button, or Config in the mods list) comes from the optional mod MezzConfig GUI. It has no official Forge build for 1.21.11, so a Forge build of MezzConfig GUI is provided with this port. Without it, JEI's settings are in the files under config/jei/. MezzConfig GUI has not been tested with this port on Quilt.
Multiplayer
- Install the same JEI build on the server and on every client. Since Minecraft 1.21.2, servers no longer send recipes to players, so JEI on the server sends them to JEI on each client. On Forge, this port does that itself; on Quilt, Fabric API does it. Players then see all of the server's recipes, including those of other mods and data packs, and the recipes update after
/reload. - Cheat mode is allowed for operators and for players in creative mode. On Forge, change this in
serverconfig/jei-server.tomlinside the world folder:enableCheatModeForOp,enableCheatModeForCreative, andenableCheatModeForGive(players who can use/give, off by default).
Differences from the official builds
- On Forge, JEI's server settings (the cheat mode permissions) are not in the settings screen. Edit
serverconfig/jei-server.tomlinstead. - The Quilt build is JEI's Fabric build with Quilt metadata, so it behaves like JEI on Fabric.
For mod developers
The Forge build loads JEI plugins marked with @JeiPlugin, as on NeoForge. Its API is JEI's common API plus mezz.jei.api.forge.ForgeTypes.FLUID_STACK for Forge fluids.
Tested
This build was tested with real game installs, not only in a development environment. Forge 61.2.1 and Quilt Loader 0.30.1 clients joined dedicated servers and played in singleplayer. Recipe lookup, search, fluids and item giving were checked on both, and the settings screen on Forge.
