Description

Immersive Brewing makes brewing potions a craft you can get better at. Grind your ingredients, adjust the heat, stir the kettle and time your additions as the mixture reacts. A little care can turn an ordinary batch into something worth saving for your next adventure.

Build a brewing workshop around three new stations:

  • Apothecary’s Mortar: Prepare ingredients through a grinding minigame, with different techniques for crystals, fibrous plants and softer materials. Better preparation helps produce better potions, and you can prepare up to four reagent kits per session.
  • Brewer’s Kettle: Brew up to six bottles at once. Choose a brewing plan, load your supplies, then manage the heat, stirring and ingredient timing. Watch the mixture and follow its cues as cold drafts, burner flares and other disturbances keep you paying attention.
  • Alembic: Refine a batch by controlling heat and cooling, collecting the best part of the distillation. Turn three matching potions into two improved bottles, or six into four. You can also recycle unwanted potions into Spent Alchemical Salt and recover their glass bottles.

Your finished potions receive a Crude, Standard, Fine or Masterwork grade based on ingredient preparation and how well you handled the brew. At the default settings, quality can make supported effects last up to 20% longer—or 20% shorter—and slightly change drinking speed. The recipe still determines the potion’s effects and their level.

Familiar brewing recipes are supported, including splash and lingering potions, with quality also carried into tipped arrows. Preparing ingredients in the Mortar is optional, so you can start with ordinary ingredients and improve your technique as you go.

Getting started is straightforward. Pick up your first Mortar or Kettle to receive a Brewer’s Notebook. It includes instructions, searchable brewing plans, favourites and an explanation of your last result. Its practice sessions let you learn all three stations without using ingredients. The Kettle’s plan selector shows what you need and what’s missing before you begin.

Wooden and iron brewing paddles round out the workshop, while the Batch Carrier holds up to six potion stacks for moving batches between stations.

Need to step away halfway through? Close the station and resume later. Your progress is also preserved when you log out or the server restarts. Breaking a station with an unfinished job drops a Recovery Batch, which you can place into another station of the same type to continue.

Vanilla brewing stands remain available by default. For packs built around hands-on crafting, a server option can require the Kettle for the recipes it supports. Batch sizes, ingredient costs, quality bonuses, assistance settings and more are configurable, with datapack support for further customization.

Hoppers and compatible pipes can help supply stations and collect finished output. The Alembic’s recycling process runs unattended; brewing and purification are interactive.

The mod also includes rebindable controls, keyboard alternatives, hold-or-toggle inputs, colour-blind and high-contrast palettes, larger markers, reduced motion and written cues. Timing assistance is available within the server’s configured limits.

The following integrations are optional; Immersive Brewing works on its own with Forge.

Mod Compatibility
JEI Browse brewing, preparation, purification and recycling recipes, check their requirements and transfer recipes into the Kettle.
Jade See station contents, fuel and progress at a glance.
Apothecary Dedicated brewing plans, ingredient preparation, supported effect-quality bonuses and Alembic recipes.
Potions, Potions And More Potions Dedicated support for its drinkable, splash and lingering recipes, ingredient preparation, supported quality bonuses and Alembic processing.
PotionsMaster Brew its ore-sight potions, prepare calcinated powders in the Mortar and refine or recycle the results.
RPG Potions Dedicated brewing plans, ingredient preparation, supported quality bonuses and Alembic recipes.
Immersive Smithing Forge the iron brewing paddle, with its smithing quality affecting durability wear.
Immersive Tanning Use Binding Leather to make a strapped Batch Carrier variant. The strap is cosmetic.
Immersive Enchanting Brewing paddles support Unbreaking and Mending.
Immersive Jewelry Jewelry effects and drinking-speed bonuses work alongside brewing quality.

Other potion mods may also work when they use Forge’s standard brewing system, though recipe coverage and quality bonuses vary.

For Apothecary users, its Iron’s Spellbooks mana recipes are not currently included in the dedicated brewing plans. When Apothecary and More Potions are installed together, their shared magma-block recipe produces More Potions’ Fire potion, matching the brewing stand’s result.

For Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47 or newer and Java 17. Install Immersive Brewing on both the client and server for multiplayer. English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Simplified Chinese translations are included.
