Hunting Quest

Hunting Quest is a quest mod inspired by the quest board from Monster Hunter. Players can choose slaying or gathering quests on the quest board, travel to the target dimension, biome, or structure, complete the objectives, and earn rewards.

Introduction

Hunting Quest is a quest mod inspired by the quest board from Monster Hunter. Players can choose slaying or gathering quests on the quest board, travel to the target dimension, biome, or structure, complete the objectives, and earn rewards.

Usage Instructions

  • The mod adds a new block "Guild Core", which is automatically generated when a village loads (can also be placed manually);
  • A quest board and an NPC will spawn at the core's location;
  • Right-click the quest board to open the quest interface;
  • Right-click the NPC to switch between party/single-player mode;
  • Breaking the core will remove its associated quest board and receptionist.

Detailed Operations

Selecting a Quest

  • After right-clicking the quest board, first choose "Main Quest" or "Side Quest";
  • Then a list of ranks will open, select the desired rank;
  • Click on a specific quest in the list, and the details (objective, location, reward, time, description) will be shown on the right;
  • Confirm and enter the quest's corresponding map;

Unlocking Quests

  • New players can only accept 1-star quests at the start;
  • After completing all main quests of the current rank, the Urgent quest for that rank is unlocked;
  • Completing the Urgent quest advances to the next rank, i.e., unlocking 2-star quests;
  • Side quests are only unlocked for a given rank after the main quests of that rank have been unlocked.

Single Player & Party

  • Default is single-player mode: the player who confirms the quest enters alone.
  • Right-click the NPC to switch to party mode; after the party leader confirms a quest, players within 16 blocks receive an invitation; the quest starts only when all accept.
  • The party shares objectives and progress, and each member receives rewards independently.
  • Players may leave during the quest; remaining members can continue; the area is cleaned up when all have left.

Temporary Camp

  • Upon entering each quest, a temporary camp is generated, including a flag, respawn point, supply chest, and arrival location.
  • Supplies have temporary tags; they are automatically cleaned up after the quest ends, fails, is abandoned, or upon disconnection.

Abandoning a Quest

  • Right-click the wool flag, then right-click again within 5 seconds to confirm abandoning the quest.

Visual Quest Editor

  • Players with permission level ≥2 can open it using the command "/huntingquest editor" or by binding a hotkey.

Editable fields:

  • Quest rank, category (Main/Side/Urgent);
  • Type (Slaying/Gathering);
  • Quest name, target dimension, target biome, target structure;
  • The monster to slay or item to collect, required quantity, distance from monster, rewards (items and XP).

Configuration

  • Path: 'config/hunting_quest-common.toml'
  • Disable built-in quests: 'enableBuiltInTasks = false' (they will not be displayed or affect unlocking, but data is retained).
  • Disable village-generated Guild Cores: "generateVillageGuildCores = false" (affects only newly loaded chunks).

Notes

  • Slow location search: rare biomes or structures may take longer;
  • Quest location selection: priority is given to "structures" if specified; otherwise "biomes"; underground or underwater structures will automatically choose a safe spawn point.
  • Quest objectives: kills of naturally spawned target creatures also count; the spawned quest monster is only a backup; quest monsters have a glowing buff to help players locate them, and the glow is removed when they get close.
  • Integration: "Monster Expansion" – if installed, it automatically adds corresponding high-rank quests;
