What's new

Everything since 1.26.1, newest first.

1.31.1: Glow and fixes

For players: glowing skins now really glow, with or without shaders. Drill lamps are redrawn.

  • The Tier 2 Long Sluice item no longer shows as a purple and black cube.
  • Black Opal, Obsidian and Frosted accents are fullbright.
  • Drill lamps have a caged glass look, and light up while the drill is working or stopped.
  • Pans now show Red Dirt, Mullock and Opal Clay.
  • The Little Windmill is now the Windpump.
  • Leaving a party takes you back to your old island, if nobody else has moved onto it.

1.31.0: The Field Guide

For players: you now get a Field Guide in your starter kit (and existing players get one the next time they log in). It opens on your first visit to a world once the starting island is ready, and you can open it again at any time by right-clicking the Field Guide item or clicking the Field Guide button on the first page of the Prospector's Ledger. Eight short illustrated pages walk through digging and panning, selling your finds, buying blueprints and machines, building your first automated drill-and-sluice line, belts and crates, melting and casting metal, land plots and dirt tiers, and the Prospector's Ledger.

1.30.0: The Outback collection

For players: the Outback Crate is a collection now, with the same odds as the Prospector Crate (80 / 16 / 3 / 1). It holds six new skins for drills and sluices: Outback and Dusty Outback (common), Ochre and Calm Opal (rare), Opal and Boulder Opal (epic), and the Black Opal as the 1% legendary, a near-black machine with opal flecks that shift between green, blue, violet and a little orange (they glow under shaders). It also holds the new Fossicker title and the event decor as before. You still buy it with Opal Chips at the event store, and now locked Outback Crates turn up while you work on the event island: hand panning, the sluice tray, a drill's output and scooping with the shovel. Bolt Cutters open them like any crate. The Prospector Crate is still found there too.

  • Skins fit the Derrick drill and the long sluice and come in every wear.
  • The Outback Crate has a new look: a red dirt box with an opal set in the lid.
  • Admins: /holeydigsite crate odds outback_crate lists the new contents.

1.29.0: Crate collections

For players: crates are collections now. The Prospector Crate (the old skins, titles and decor, with the Jackpot title and the Golden Drill Statue as the 1% finds) is found while you work: hand panning, the sluice tray, a drill's output and scooping with the shovel. Found crates are locked. Buy Bolt Cutters (24 gold, Trading Post) and right-click a placed crate with them to cut the lock and open it. Locked crates stack apart, can be traded and sold for a few coins, and come back locked if you break them. Crates from the Ledger, contracts and the event store are unlocked. The tooltip lists the whole collection with the odds, and the Ledger has a Collections page. The Crate Switch on the Trading Post wall turns crates and skins off for you (no finds, no cutters, coin rewards instead); nothing you own is taken. The Trading Post no longer sells crates. Wooden, Iron and Gold Crates you already have still open as before.

  • Ledger levels 19, 36 and 49 now give 1, 2 and 4 Prospector Crates; bigger contracts give 1 or 2.
  • Admins: /holeydigsite crate give <player> <id> [count] [locked], crate odds <id>, crate switch <player> [on|off]; server config holeydigsite-crates.toml has default_on.

1.28.0: The long sluice

For players: the one-block sluice is now the Starter Sluice Box (same recipe and shop price). The Tier 2 sluice is a long sluice of three blocks: a channel two blocks long with the tray end towards you, and a chute on top of the back end. Clumps go into the chute, from above or from any side but the front, so belts, drills and Drop Chutes feed it there, and you can drop clumps into the chute by hand. The chute holds 16 clumps. It takes two inserts now: a Riffle Insert and a Fine Mesh Screen or a Seed Screen work together (not the same one twice). Water still goes to the sides of the back part, and an empty hand on any part empties the tray. A Tier 2 sluice that is already placed in an old world comes back as a chest holding the sluice, its inserts, its tray and its queued clumps, and you get a chat line with where it was. Place it again with the space in front and above free.

  • Tier 2 speed and tray are unchanged (a clump every 2.5 s, 18 slots). Skins fit all three parts.
  • The tooltip, JEI pages and Jade lines know the new layout.

1.27.0: The Outback event

  • A new island north of your home island, over its own bridge: the event plot. It has three sections, each bought with its own deed at the event store by the gate (Tier 1 for 400 gold, Tier 2 for 2,000 and Tier 3 for 3,600; each needs the one before). With Skyblock Builder a bought section belongs to your island's team.
  • The ground is Hardpan with hidden pockets of event rock: Red Dirt in Tier 1, Mullock in Tier 2, Opal Clay in Tier 3. Dig around to find one, then put a drill on it. The higher tiers have fewer, smaller pockets.
  • Event clumps pan and sluice into event finds: Outback Gold, Ironstone, Potch, Boulder Opal, Sapphire Parti, Black and Fire Opal, Pink Diamond, and the very rare Welcome Stranger nugget. Event gems cut in the Gem Cutter, Outback Gold melts and casts.
  • Event finds don't sell for coins. Sell them on the event store's Sell Pad for Opal Chips, then spend the chips there: the Outback Crate, a corrugated iron sheet, a little windmill, an ore ute, an Australian flag and a stand for your Welcome Stranger. Your chip balance shows at the store and in the Ledger.
  • The Event Board at the store shows the top 10 diggers of the event (clumps dug and chips earned). A new Leaderboard in the Trading Post shows the world's top earners and diggers.
  • Three new Ledger goals for events. They give no Renown, so Ledger levels never depend on events.
  • When a later update brings a new event, the event plot's sections are rebuilt for it. Anything you built there goes into chests at the section's gate, and you keep the sections you bought.
  • Old worlds get the event island on first load. Anything of yours in the way is left where it is.
