What's new
Grey Goo Redux v0.2.4
This update brings Grey Goo Redux closer to its intended final behavior, with major improvements to Goo identities, visuals, performance safety, and Aetherial Goo.
Current Goo Types
Grey Goo
Aggressive world-consuming Goo that destroys terrain, mobs, and dropped items while rapidly spreading across the environment.
Void Goo
A slower-growing three-dimensional tumor that expands through terrain, fluids, and open space. It now uses an animated End Portal-inspired appearance.
Prismatic Goo
A fast rainbow-colored cleanup Goo designed to aggressively seek out and destroy other Goo outbreaks.
Water Goo
Spreads through connected water and drains it as it advances.
Lava Goo
Spreads through connected lava and consumes it as it advances.
Aetherial Goo
A protective golden guardian swarm that stays near its player, slithers along nearby terrain and fluid surfaces, attacks hostile mobs, and provides gradual healing and food recovery.
v0.2.4 Changes
The former cleanup Goo has been redesigned as Prismatic Goo, complete with a new iridescent rainbow appearance and rebalanced pursuit speed.
Black Goo has been renamed and redesigned as Void Goo while retaining its three-dimensional tumor-style expansion.
Aetherial Goo has been substantially reworked into a much larger physical block swarm with increased combat damage and improved terrain-following movement.
Aetherial Goo now prefers exposed terrain and nearby surfaces while retaining the ability to briefly move through open air when necessary to keep up with its player.
Aetherial Goo's visual design has been updated with a brighter pearl-and-gold heavenly appearance and increased glow.
A bug that could cause Aetherial Goo to generate enormous numbers of dropped Goo items when interacting with water has been fixed.
Additional safeguards have been added to prevent Aetherial Goo from leaving unintended stray blocks behind.
A new catastrophic performance failsafe has been added.
In singleplayer, sustained extreme FPS collapse can now automatically purge all active Goo after approximately one minute.
Server-side catastrophic TPS/MSPT collapse is monitored independently.
When the emergency failsafe activates, every active Goo type is purged with no surviving outbreak seeds.
An in-game notification now confirms when the catastrophic failsafe has activated.
The catastrophic performance failsafe has been successfully verified during live gameplay.
