What's new

  • A Harvester reaches down, never out (ADR 0008, #34). Each of the nine columns under its footprint looks down from the block directly under it through air, replaceable blocks and fluids, up to the tier's new reach figure in data/fieldworks/harvester_tier/ (0 when absent, no cap; harvester_1 1, harvester_2 2), and works the first other block it meets: an ore block, a harvestable block or an oil well. Reach is counted from the Harvester, so a column opened by a broken harvestable block looks further down but never past reach, and a spent ore block (stone) leaves it with no source.
  • Drill heads show each column at work. Where a column's source lies directly under the Harvester its bottom block is drawn as a drill head; where it lies lower the Harvester places a fieldworks:drill_head block in the cell above it and draws drill legs up to its bottom block, and takes it away when the source changes or the Harvester goes. A drill head has no item, takes a replaceable block's or a fluid's place (waterlogging in a water source, destroying lava), collides with nothing, holds its cell, and breaking it dismantles the Harvester. Drill heads follow the world whether the Harvester is working or not. Every Harvester's bottom layer now draws itself block by block, with a new drill_head block state on the Harvester and its parts, and the drill head textures come from Malcolm Riley's collection.
  • Patches for every mineral the -works Modules' recipes use in bulk (ADR 0007, #35). The set of ore resources grows from six to twelve: redstone, gold and diamond in the Overworld, and quartz, glowstone and netherite in the Nether, each with its ore block fieldworks:<resource>_ore (in c:ores and c:ores/<resource>), a Generation switch in fieldworks-common.toml, a map marker, and a structure set fieldworks:patch_<resource>. A draw pays what the vanilla block drops without Silk Touch: redstone dust, raw gold, a diamond, quartz, glowstone dust, and netherite scrap. The blocks need their vanilla counterparts' pickaxe tier; an exhausted Nether ore block becomes netherrack.
  • Nether patches lie on the open Nether floor, found from under the bedrock roof, following the floor column by column within 8 blocks of the centre's and leaving lava out. #fieldworks:patch_nether (#minecraft:is_nether) is the biome tag they generate in. Nothing generates in the End.
  • The Patch numbers, fieldworks/ore/amounts.json, gain dimension and min_distance for every resource: nothing generates within a resource's minimum distance of origin, in Overworld-equivalent blocks (a Nether centre counts eight times its distance). Sulfur 300, redstone 300, gold 500, uranium 600, diamond 1500, netherite 2000.
  • Iron and coal swap their amount, density and radius factor: coal patches are richer and denser than iron ones.
  • Magma slurry, fieldworks:magma_slurry, a Nether Drilling Fluid with a bucket, crafted from a lava bucket and soul soil. It is a real fluid, reachable through NeoForge's fluid capability, flowing at lava's pace but not in #minecraft:lava, no fuel, and it sets no crude into tar.
  • Drilling Fluids belong to a dimension: #fieldworks:drilling_fluids/overworld holds drilling mud and #fieldworks:drilling_fluids/nether magma slurry; #fieldworks:drilling_fluids holds both.
  • Breaking: uranium ore and oil wells need the Electric Harvester, and diamond and netherite ore too. Uranium and diamond also need drilling mud (10 mB a draw) and netherite magma slurry (25 mB), as written Harvest Recipes that replace the default, fieldworks:uranium_from_ore, diamond_from_ore, netherite_scrap_from_ore and crude_from_oil_well; a Burner Harvester can no longer work them, and an Electric Harvester works none until the recipe is held.
  • Breaking: an oil well decayed to its floor pumps at the floor for good: nothing raises it. The drilling mud Harvest Recipe fieldworks:crude_from_drilling_mud is gone, and the Harvest Recipe codec no longer accepts yield_condition (ignored) or a crude result that restores (refused). A well's result can instead be {"crude_oil": "cycle"}, the well's own yield.
  • Breaking: the new resources, and the minimum distances, apply only to chunks generated after updating: patches are structures, so an existing world keeps the land it has.
  • A Harvester whose only sources need a written recipe held, as netherite, uranium, diamond and oil wells do, says so ("Needs its recipe held: pick it in EMI or JEI", IdleReason.RECIPE_NEEDED) in place of "Nothing under it to work".
  • The Jade config entries for the Harvester and ore amount providers have names in lang, so a dev client with assertions on no longer crashes on the title screen with "Missing config translation".
