Description
Fallen Star
Some nights, a star comes down. You hear it before you see it: a streak of light crossing the sky, a directional boom, and a beam on the horizon marking where it hit. Get there before it burns out and the sky pays you in shards, gear and, very rarely, a fight you will remember.
Fallen Star is an original content mod for Fabric, on Minecraft 26.2 and 1.21.4. Every texture, model and mob was made for it. It is built to be light on low-end machines and to sit beside sky mods: a star only ever appears when it is really going to land.
A tribute to Falling Meteors. I ported the classic Falling Meteors mod to 26.2, but I was not able to upload that port. So I built Fallen Star from scratch as my tribute replacement: the same thrill of something falling out of the night sky and racing to reach it, with all-new art, new mechanics and a boss the original never had. If you miss meteors, this one is for you.
New in this update
- Now on Minecraft 1.21.4 (Java 21). It is the full mod, the same as the 26.2 version: every star, site, mob and piece of gear, the Star Sovereign and all 12 passives.
- Pick the file that matches your game version.
How a star falls
- No timer. Each night rolls once. By default a star falls on about 1 night in 50, so it stays an event and never becomes a chore.
- Stars always land inside your view distance, so you can see the light and walk to it. A message tells you how far and in which direction.
- The landing leaves no fire and no crater of destroyed terrain: a shallow bowl of Starlit Stone and Star Glass with glowing star blocks at its heart, under a tall beam of light.
- The clock starts when you arrive. Once a player comes close, you have 7.5 minutes to mine the star before it burns out and its blocks fade to stone.
Four kinds of star, three sizes
- Aurora - the common green star. Shards smelt into Aurora Ingots.
- Lunar - cold blue shards.
- Solar - burning gold shards.
- Nova - rare and violet, with the best loot at its core.
Star gear with set perks
- Aurora tools and armour: mined drops fly to you; the full set pulls nearby items in.
- Lunar tools and armour: weapons slow what they hit; the full set falls slowly and slows attackers.
- Solar tools and armour: weapons set targets alight and aglow; the full set sees in the dark.
Tools of the stargazer
- Astrolabe - tells you if a star falls tonight and points to falling and recent stars.
- Wishing Charm - use it on a block to wish a star down onto that spot.
- Star Ward - protects your base: stars within 48 blocks scatter harmlessly overhead and drop a few shards.
- Star Lantern, Star Glass and shard blocks for building.
New mobs
- Starling - a gentle creature of light that arrives with a star and sheds aurora shards.
- Umbra - a hostile shadow drawn to the fallen star. It brings darkness and burns in daylight.
The Star Sovereign (boss)
About one night in 365, something vast comes down instead. A red-flickering star lands and a Star Sovereign sleeps on it until a player walks up.
- A dodge fight, MMO style. Every attack is telegraphed on the ground or in the air a moment before it lands. Sprinting, strafing and timing matter far more than armour: armour only softens starfire and shields do not block it.
- No two Sovereigns fight alike. Each one draws its own kit of 6 attacks from a pool of 12, with its own tempo and rotation, so you cannot memorise one fight and farm the rest.
- Below half health it enrages, speeds up and unlocks its last attack.
- It cannot be cheesed from far away or burst down: only players fighting up close hurt it, and each hit is capped.
- You get 15 minutes. After that the Sovereign returns to the sky. Beat it and the site becomes a normal star with a full collecting window, plus the boss loot.
Star Passives: permanent rewards
Each player who fought the Sovereign has a 10% chance to receive one of 12 permanent passives. They stay with you through death, and they show in a panel on the right side of your inventory with a short description. They are useful, not game-breaking: one passive will not make the next Sovereign easy.
- Swift - move 10% faster
- Vigor - two extra hearts
- Guard - +3 armor and +1 toughness
- Edge - +2 attack damage
- Haste - break blocks 20% faster
- Reach - +1 block reach, +0.5 on entities
- Feather - fall 7 blocks further unhurt, then take half damage
- Ember - fire does not cling to you
- Tide - longer breath, faster in water
- Stride - step up full blocks
- Moonlit - slowly heal under the night sky
- Second Wind - survive a killing blow once every 10 minutes
Also inside
- Rare ancient landing sites to find in new chunks.
- 10 advancements, from your first shard to Starbreaker.
- Works in multiplayer. Install on the server and on every client.
