Exterminatus-prototype-1
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
New
- Its own settings menu with tabs and tooltips, in English and Russian
- Render distance up to 128 chunks and simulation distance from 2 to 128 chunks
- Dynamic lights: torches in hand, burning mobs, dropped glowing items, TNT and creepers (up to 1024 sources)
- Zoom on the C key (rebindable in Controls)
- FPS, frame time and TPS counters: three styles, any corner of the screen
- Game element settings: sky, sun and moon, stars, clouds, fog, rain and snow, foliage, shadows, biome blend
- Separate toggles for 11 particle types and 6 animated textures
- Anisotropic filtering up to 16x and 4 texture filtering modes
- Framerate limit from 1 to 260
- Light repair around the player: the

Performance
Rendering
- The world is drawn in large pieces, and the GPU builds the draw list itself
- Terrain hidden behind mountains and walls, hidden by fog or facing away from the player is not drawn
- World visibility is computed in the background, the frame does not wait for it
- Fast particles, rain, snow and clouds
- Compressed vertices: about a third less video memory
- The F3 screen barely affects FPS
Chunk loading
- Chunks are built on all CPU cores and 30–50% faster
- The world loads in a circle around the player, nearby chunks are prepared in advance
- New chunks fade in smoothly
- Changing the render distance does not rebuild the already loaded world
- A placed or broken block is visible immediately
Smoothness
- No stutter from texture animations and background tasks
- Less memory garbage and fewer garbage collector pauses
- Better performance on weak CPUs
Server and world
- Multithreaded terrain generation: new worlds load 30–45% faster, the world is identical block for block
- Faster ore, structures, water and lava
- Its own lighting engine: faster and without vanilla lighting bugs
- World saving without freezes
- Fast mobs: with thousands of mobs the server spends almost half as much time per tick
- Teleporting at a high render distance no longer freezes the server
Fixes
- Glass, water and ice are sorted without ordering errors
- Clouds and particles are placed correctly among glass and water
- Glass shards and haze no longer cut holes in translucent blocks
- Disappearing top faces of blocks, visible caves and the world after teleporting
- Dark triangles in falling water
- Dark light spots at chunk borders
- A crash when water flows during world generation
- A memory leak when leaving a world
Compatibility
- Support for mods that make the world taller than 256 blocks
