Description
Enchanting in vanilla is a slot machine. Enchanting Plus replaces it with an Advanced Enchantment Table where you choose exactly which enchantments go on your gear — and pay a fair XP price for each one.
This is a port of the original Enchanting Plus by Darkhax from 1.12.2 to modern Minecraft. Grab the file for your version and loader from the Files tab — currently 1.20.1 and 1.21/1.21.1 are covered.
How it works
- Put any enchantable item into the Advanced Enchantment Table.
- Every enchantment that fits the item appears with its own slider — set each one to the level you want.
- The XP cost scales with the enchantment's rarity and level. Incompatible enchantments lock each other out, following the same rules as vanilla.
- Bookshelves around the table reduce the cost, up to 30%.
The fine print that makes it interesting
- Treasure enchantments (Mending, Frost Walker, Soul Speed…) don't come for free: the table must stand on a 3×3 floor of beacon-base blocks, in daylight. They also cost 4× more.
- Curses can only be touched around midnight under a full moon — add them cheaply, or pay 3× to strip them off an item.
- The table stores items like a chest, and every player gets their own private slot — nothing gets stolen on a server.
- Craft the table from scratch, or sneak + right-click a vanilla enchanting table with a Table Upgrade to convert it in place.
- Seven decorative floating books that glow, feed enchanting power to tables (configurable), shift up and down with a feather or an iron ingot, and trigger comparators when someone reads them.
- Hold sneak over any slider to read what the enchantment actually does.
- Item and enchantment blacklists plus all cost factors live in
config/eplus.json. - JEI integration included.
