Easy Steel & More Mod for Forge 1.15.2 & 1.16.5
NOTE: 1.14.4 is no longer supported, 1.15.2 will get bug fixes. 1.16.5 is focus of new development.
For 1.15.2+, tools and weapons use sticks instead of metal rods. Also, the Crack Hammer is no longer a breaking tool, it is a crafting item. Recipes are in JEI.
Easy Steel & More is designed for vanilla+ play, respecting the supremacy of Diamond/Netherite and providing the player with additional choices for tools, weapons, and armor. This mod adds Flint, Bronze, Steel, Titanium Alloy, Hardened Steel and Tungsten-Carbide to provide a fuller range of choices between Vanilla's Stone and Diamond.
Where the materials fit with Vanilla:
The Crack Hammer will be an important tool! Use it in a crafting table on vanilla and Easy Steel ores and it will yield (2) powdered ores. Works on coal, iron, gold, diamond, emerald, copper, tin, titanium, and tungsten. If ore blocks from other mods have proper Forge ore tags, it will work on those as well.
Make Steel with powders or ingots, you choose:
USAGE:
- Four ores are added to world generation: Bornite (copper), Cassiterite (tin), Rutile (titanium), and Wolframite (tungsten); ores can be disabled in the config
- Carbon is obtained by using a crack hammer with coal in a crafting table
- Bronze is made by mixing copper and tin powders (3x1) in crafting table and processing the Raw Bronze in a regular Furnace
- Steel is made by mixing carbon powder and iron powder in crafting table and processing the Raw Steel in a Blast Furnance
- Titanium Alloy is made by mixing carbon powder and titanium powder in crafting table and processing the Raw Titanium Alloy in a Blast Furnance
- Hardened Steel is made by mixing raw steel and carbon powder in crafting table and processing the Raw Hardened Steel in a Blast Furnance
- Tungsten-Carbide is made by mixing tungsten powder and carbon powder in crafting table and processing the Raw Tungsten_Carbide in a Blast Furnance
- Crack Hammer provides ore doubling for copper, tin, tungsten, iron, gold, diamond, and emerald.
TIPS:
- Starting in an Extreme Hills Biome is helpful since ores may be exposed on the surface
- Use a Hand Shovel to gather Sharp Flint to make flint tools. Use on Gravel blocks, random chance to get either flint or sharp flint.
- Carbon Powders are obtained by crafting Coal with a Crack Hammer
- Iron Nuggets can be crafted into Iron Links, which can be crafted into vanilla Chain Mail
ITEMS:
- Bronze and Steel Armor/Tools/Weapons can be made from Silent Mechanisms bronze and steel
- Bronze/Steel/Titanium Alloy/Hardened Steel/Tungsten-Carbide Ingots - used to make Steel Plate
- Flint/Bronze/Steel/Titanium Alloy/Hardened Steel/Tungsten-Carbide Tools and Weapons - made from ingots and sticks
- Steel/Hardened Steel Bows and Crossbows
- Bronze/Steel/Titanium Alloy/Hardened Steel/Tungsten-Carbide Armor - made from Bronze, Steel, Titanium Alloy, Hardened Steel, and Tungsten-Carbide Plates
- Copper, Tin, Titanium, and Tungsten Ingot included for cross mod compatibility
NOTE: If you happen to be using a mod that has stronger mobs than vanilla, the attack damage and durability of tools and armor material can be adjusted in the config.

lmao im tryna find mods that are compatible with tetra
Hey, loving the mod so far!
Just wanted to make a suggestion: could you make it so that the recipes from this mod are added to the recipe book? It'd make using the mod much more streamlined
Hey
Do you wanna add compatibility with Spartan Weaponry mod?
In reply to xdPrzemo:
Not exactly a response to this comment but rather a comment in support of this comment.
Seriously, guys, with Base Metals not being updated to 1.15.2, there is an open space for you to take the market so to speak.
In reply to JMGollde:
I just checked and the copper, tin, bronze, and steel work fine with Easy Steal. I did not has to add compatibility.
In reply to kwpugh:
But what's with Invar, Platinum, Electrum, Nickel & Lead?
Are you planning add those materials in future?
Is there any chance of also being able to get carbon from Charcoal and a crack hammer being added?
I was play testing with this mod in hardcore, and I just found out that you can't craft a hand shovel with other types of vanilla wood. It would be convenient if the recipe were compatible with other types of planks and somewhat shapeless in the crafting table.
Please and thank you.
In reply to phoenixevolver:
I'll take a look, I think I can easily change to the tag for planks.

hi, good mod, some suggestions, in the config file an option to set ores harvest level to mine, like at least stone pick to copper and tin, and at least steel from titanium and tungsten, also an option to set iron harvest level, like at least bronze pickaxe to mine iron, this way you would need bronze tools first and then you would be able to mine iron because bronze tools are kind of pointless when the iron is so easy and cheap to get, so with those change the game would have a better progression in my opinion
In reply to joaberuben:
Interesting ideas. Challenge is the forge API (and Minecraft) only provides four harvest levels: wood/gold = 0, stone = 1, iron = 2, and diamond = 3. How would that work with what is available?
In reply to kwpugh:
glad you like it could work somewhat like this:
well maybe iron could need level 2 to be mined, so you cant mine it with stone but "bronze"(both copper and tin) would need level 1 = stone and would be able to mine level 2 = iron, now on the titanium and tungsten i really don't know how it could work because they are bellow diamond and above iron/steel, but just making iron a bit more delayed on the "Minecraft tech tree" would make a nice progression shift
can you please make a mini-mod that only adds the dusts and the crack hammer? i would love to use this mod with only those items, thanks!
Just tested it. Very unreliable mod. Most ores don't spawn, even with CLib. The tools are not that good either.
In reply to Forge_User_35581712:
- Easy Steel ores do not spawn at present. Equivalent ores available with CLib or other ore mods that provide copper, tin, tungsten etc.. If CLib ores are not spawning, likely need to travel into an unexplored area if mod added to existing world.
- "Tool are not that good", what do you mean? The tools are intended to between vanilla Stone and Diamond.
In reply to kwpugh:
- I explored a large chunk of caves and they didn't spawn.
- I mean that tools are not worth the addition to the game, they don't provide real value between the current silver, gold and diamond tools.

use xray maybe you are unlucky
