I wanted Minecraft to feel less frozen in time, so I made Dynamic Environment.
Drop a sapling or some seeds and walk away, and they'll plant themselves a few seconds later, spreading out like a little wild patch. Seeds that land on grass grow into "self-sown" crops. They look and harvest just like normal ones; Jade will tell you they grew on their own.
Head to the coast and you'll see real waves rolling up the sand and draining back out, bigger when it rains. Get caught there in a thunderstorm and you might watch the sea pull back from the shore... then come rushing inland as a tsunami. It drains away again, but it can leave pools in low ground that slowly dry up over the next few days.
The ground isn't always steady either. Every so often rocks break loose from cave ceilings and cliffs, so listen for the cracking and move. Now and then an earthquake hits: the screen shakes, the ground rumbles, glass shatters, cracks open up, and sometimes the ground over a cave caves in. Storms can also bring down trees, leaving a stump and a fallen log behind (and yes, it works with Dynamic Trees).
None of this is meant to ruin your world. Most events give you a warning first. Rock falls only ever drop natural rock, never blocks you placed, and ground cracks, sinkholes and falling trees stay away from your builds. Just maybe don't put your glass greenhouse right on the beach.
Works with Farmer's Delight, Croptopia, SWEM, Doggy Talents Next and Dynamic Trees, all optional. Everything can be turned off or tuned in the config. Ops can trigger any event with /dynamicenvironment (waves, tsunami, rockfall, earthquake, sinkhole, treefall) if you want to see it right away.
Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge. Install it on both the server and the clients for multiplayer. Feel free to put it in your modpacks!
