Departure Inventory Halo Fix

Prevents duplicate Tinker's Domain halo layers from causing worsening inventory and player-rendering lag.

Departure Inventory Halo Fix is a client-side compatibility addon for Tinkers’ Domain on Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge. It prevents duplicate halo render layers from building up on player renderers during a play session.

What it fixes

In Tinkers’ Domain 1.9fix, halo layers are repeatedly registered on the player renderer. Those layers can accumulate even when the player is not wearing a halo, increasing the work required to render players and the inventory character preview.

This addon keeps the first halo layer registered on each renderer and rejects additional copies. The original halo can still render, while unrelated rendering layers are left unchanged.

It targets this particular cause of worsening inventory/player-rendering performance. It does not add items or change the halo’s artwork, and it is not a general FPS optimisation mod.

Requirements

  • Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1
  • Forge 47.x
  • The original Tinkers’ Domain mod; the fix was developed against 1.9fix

Origins and the Departure modpack are not required. Fabric and other Minecraft versions are not supported by this release.

Installation

  1. Close Minecraft.
  2. Put the addon JAR in your client’s mods folder, alongside the original Tinkers’ Domain JAR.
  3. Remove an older version of this addon if you are updating, then restart Minecraft.

Client only: no server installation is required. Restarting the client clears layers that accumulated before installing the fix. If you previously used a patched replacement of Tinkers’ Domain, restore its original JAR before using this standalone addon.

Compatibility and testing

The addon changes halo-layer registration only. It does not change origins, equipment stats, recipes, saves or server gameplay.

Automated tests cover 100,000 simulated registration attempts, separate renderers, replacement renderers, unrelated layers and retry after failed registration. The injection target has been checked against Minecraft 1.20.1 bytecode. These checks are not a substitute for complete in-game compatibility or long-session performance testing; the file is offered as a beta.

For a useful bug report, include Minecraft and Forge versions, the Tinkers’ Domain version, other rendering mods and steps to reproduce the issue. Remove private information before sharing logs.

Credits and license

Developed for the Departure modpack. This is an independent addon, not an official Tinkers’ Domain release. Tinkers’ Domain remains the separate required mod and retains ownership of its code and assets; neither is bundled here.

This addon’s original code is licensed under the MIT License, included in the JAR. Version 1.0.1 updates dependency metadata and license packaging; its duplicate-layer prevention is unchanged from 1.0.0.
