# Dark Scythe

Dark Scythe is a standalone weapon mod for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1.

The mod adds a powerful dark scythe with life-stealing attacks, long-lasting negative effects and an active forward dash ability.

## Main Features

- Adds the Dark Scythe.
- Deals 4 base attack damage.
- Has a full attack recharge time of 0.8 seconds.
- Has 1,725 durability.
- Supports sweeping attacks.
- Inflicts Blindness for 12 seconds.
- Inflicts Wither I for 12 seconds.
- Heals the wielder for 25% of the damage actually dealt.
- Includes a three-block forward dash.
- The dash has a 12-second cooldown.
- The dash stops before solid walls.
- The dash attacks a target in its path like a normal scythe strike.
- Supports standard sword enchantments.
- Has no required dependencies.
- Works in singleplayer and multiplayer.

## Dark Attacks

Every successful direct attack inflicts two effects on the target:

- Blindness for 12 seconds.
- Wither I for 12 seconds.

The effects are applied in addition to the scythe's normal damage.

## Life Steal

The wielder is healed for 25% of the damage actually dealt to a target.

For example, dealing 8 points of final damage restores 2 health points.

Healing is calculated from the final damage after armor, enchantments and other damage reductions are applied.

## Dark Dash

Press the use button while holding the Dark Scythe to dash up to three blocks forward.

The dash:

- has a 12-second cooldown;
- stops before solid blocks;
- does not allow the player to pass through walls;
- attacks a target caught in the path;
- applies the same damage, Blindness, Wither and life-steal mechanics as a normal attack.

The remaining ability cooldown is displayed by the normal item cooldown indicator.

## Sweeping Attacks

The Dark Scythe supports Minecraft's sweeping attack mechanic when the attack is fully charged and the normal sweeping-attack conditions are met.

## Supported Enchantments

The Dark Scythe supports:

- Sharpness
- Smite
- Bane of Arthropods
- Knockback
- Fire Aspect
- Looting
- Sweeping Edge
- Unbreaking
- Mending
- Curse of Vanishing

Enchantment damage is added to the scythe's normal damage.

## Crafting Recipe

The Dark Scythe is crafted using three Netherite Ingots, one Nether Star and one Stick.

## Installation

1. Install Minecraft Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1.
2. Place the Dark Scythe JAR file into the Minecraft `mods` folder.
3. Install the same version on the server when playing multiplayer.
4. Start Minecraft.
