Create × Pixelmon Compat

Create × Pixelmon Compat fixes a compatibility issue between Create 6.0.10 and Pixelmon 9.3.16 on Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge.

Certain Pixelmon ores can crash or hang a world when broken by a Create Mechanical Drill. This can affect both stationary drills and Create contraptions using Mechanical Drills.

What does it fix?

Pixelmon 9.3.16's GenericOreBlock XP handling expects the breaking tool to contain enchantment data. Create's automated block-breaking system can break a block using an empty tool context without that enchantment component.

When Create attempts to break an affected Pixelmon ore, Pixelmon can encounter a null enchantment component while determining the XP drop. This can result in the integrated server crashing or a dedicated server becoming unresponsive.

This mod safely handles that missing enchantment data while preserving Pixelmon's normal XP behavior.

Tested behavior

The compatibility fix has been tested with:

• Create Mechanical Drill breaking affected Pixelmon ores
• XP drops from Mechanical Drill mining
• Normal player mining and XP drops
• Silk Touch player mining with no XP drop
• Loading a world that had already crashed while a Mechanical Drill was attempting to break an affected ore

In recovery testing, the previously affected world successfully loaded, the existing drill completed breaking the ore, and normal operation continued without manually removing the drill, deleting the contraption, or editing the world files.

These are the versions this mod was developed and tested against. Other versions are not currently claimed as compatible until they have been tested.

Installation

Install the mod alongside Pixelmon and Create in your normal mods folder.

For multiplayer, install it on both the server and clients as a normal compatibility mod.

No configuration is required.

Already have a crashed world?

If your world is crashing because a Create Mechanical Drill is attempting to break one of the affected Pixelmon ores, this mod may allow that world to load normally again.

Always make a backup of the affected world before attempting recovery.

In our testing, an already-crashed world was restored from its untouched crashed state, this compatibility mod was installed, and the world loaded successfully. The existing Mechanical Drill then completed breaking the problematic ore.

This does not mean the mod can repair every possible Minecraft or Create world crash. The recovery applies specifically to the Pixelmon GenericOreBlock incompatibility addressed by this mod.

What this mod does NOT do

It does not change Pixelmon ore drops, add new ores, modify Create recipes, give Mechanical Drills Silk Touch, or change normal player mining behavior.

Its purpose is narrowly focused: make Create's automated block breaking compatible with the affected Pixelmon ore XP handling.
