BREATHING SWORD QI | 呼吸剣気
FULL USER MANUAL & FEATURE GUIDE — INITIAL SUBMISSION v0.3.0
Version 1.21.11 | Fabric Loader 0.19.3+ | Fabric API | Java 21+
ABOUT THIS RELEASE
Breathing Sword Qi transforms supported sword and paired-sword arrangements into different breathing styles, combat techniques and supernatural energy attacks. Swinging a selected move sends travelling, multi-layered energy forms through the world, with actual hit checks processed on the server and knockback. Techniques are organized by what is held in each hand: the correct equipment is the way to choose the combat school; the sneak-and-attack control chooses a specific move within that school.
This guide describes the ACTUAL v0.3.0 initial-submission JAR. It does not import features from later 0.4.x/0.5.x updates. Its technique names and striking shapes are influenced by the source-material concepts, but a listed name does not mean its complete original action sequence, tracking AI or frame-accurate animation is implemented.
QUICK START — EXACT CONTROLS
1. Install the matching 1.21.11 Fabric Loader and Fabric API, then place the v0.3.0 JAR in the instance's mods folder. Use Java 21 or newer compatible Java.
2. Equip an eligible single sword or recognized pair from the combinations below. For a two-sword combination, hold one in the main hand and the other in the off hand; the order of mixed pairs does not matter.
3. With a regular sword loadout, the starting slot is Normal Attack. A normal left click remains ordinary melee until you choose a skill.
4. Hold Sneak and LEFT CLICK once to select its first special technique. Hold Sneak and left click again to advance, one entry per click. After the final technique, the selector wraps to Normal Attack. Release Sneak and LEFT CLICK to cast the selected move.
5. For the ordinary STICK (the training tool), the initial move is already a white horizontal energy slash. Sneak + left click cycles four directions; a normal left click fires the current training slash. A wooden sword is not the same item as a stick.
6. Skill selection is kept separately per supported equipment combination for the current running session. Changing gear switches the available list. Unrecognized sword combinations do not provide an additional school.
WHAT THE PLAYER WILL SEE
• Moves are not merely renamed one-size-fits-all projectiles. The renderer has several particle-based travelling shapes: bright-edged curved blades, vertical and diagonal waves, crossed arcs, rings, spirals, thrusts, chained slashes, claw cuts, petal fans, ice columns, serpentine/dragon-like paths and cyan fist/kick pressure.
• Many techniques fire multiple staggered travelling strokes. Individual stroke timings, paths, size, speed and damage fractions are controlled by each technique's implementation.
• Visible sword-energy projectiles can damage living targets and apply knockback. Actual damage may be reduced by target defenses and other server mechanics; it is not a guaranteed HP reduction or one fixed number for every skill.
• Water, Flame and Sun are PARTICLE-ONLY elements: the corresponding visual attacks do not create real water blocks, lava blocks or fire. The ice school also uses icy visuals rather than automatically building a permanent ice field.
• Two special dual-Netherite attacks additionally have an intentionally LIMITED terrain interaction. Ordinary attacks do not share this terrain-destruction function.
EVERY EQUIPMENT COMBINATION AND EVERY INITIAL-RELEASE TECHNIQUE
The 19 supported EQUIPMENT PROFILES below contain 136 registered technique entries, including 4 training entries. The 10 Moon techniques are intentionally accessible from both Copper Sword and Stone + Iron Sword, so those are repeated entries, not ten new unique moves. The ordinary Normal Attack selection is NOT included in that 136 count. Certain later-version documentation quoted 139; the actual 0.3.0 source lists 136, which is the number used here.

SYSTEM RULES AND SPECIAL ATTACKS
Equipment recognition
• The stick takes priority as a training item whenever it is in the main hand.
• Recognized swords in the off hand change the loadout from a single-sword profile to a recognized paired profile. If an off-hand sword creates an unsupported pair, there is no special technique set for that combination; remove or change the off-hand sword to access the single-sword school.
• Most paired profiles use different materials, not duplicate swords. The exceptions explicitly listed are Stone + Stone, Iron + Iron and Netherite + Netherite.
• Copper Sword has a SINGLE-sword Moon profile in v0.3.0. The old Stone + Iron paired Moon profile also remains available. No double-Copper school is registered.
• One Netherite Sword selects Sun Breathing. TWO Netherite Swords select only the two special ultimates; they do not add those two to the Sun list.
Casting and visual differences
• Standard arc-style sword energy has bright inner layers, dark outlining and movement trails. Horizontal, vertical, left diagonal and right diagonal training motions use genuinely different slash planes.
• “Rush” in THIS FIRST RELEASE means an initial forward velocity impulse for selected moves. There is no sustained, reliably synchronized full-length player sprint, and the Thunder Sixfold multi-corner zigzag was NOT present in v0.3.0.
• Not every effect is a blade. Compass Needle, Musical Score and Spatial Awareness are temporary circular enhancement fields. Their actual implemented benefit is a 25% outgoing damage boost while active (about 120 game ticks / 6 seconds), not AI awareness or enemy-attack prediction. Dead Calm has a circular field plus a nearby damage effect; it does not grant invincibility.
• Crystalline Divine Child uses three visual ghost-like attacks, not AI-controlled child entities. The Ice Bodhisattva is a large moving particle visual, not a durable summoned boss or statue.
• The Thirteenth Sun Form is represented here by a scheduled chain of 12 sword-energy waves. Later requests to run five full cycles are NOT part of v0.3.0.
Special dual-Netherite ultimates — what makes them different
Aogin Ranzankō | 青銀乱残光
• The first special slot in the double-Netherite profile. Generates a total of 50 independent cyan sword-energy waves. The firing queue releases one wave every three game ticks (rather than fifty identical particles at once). Each wave travels and makes its own living-target collision checks.
• The source specifies approximate travelling wave radius 12, wave velocity 1.25 blocks/tick and wave lifetime up to 12 ticks, subject to implementation bounds. The barrage is launched in many directions; it is NOT simply one forward horizontal slash.
Kyōhen Tenman Sengetsu | 兇変・天満繊月
• The second special slot in the double-Netherite profile. Spawns 42 smaller violet crescent waves with distributed three-dimensional directions. The source sets radius about 2.35 and speed about 2.65 blocks/tick for these individual attack objects.
• Unlike the spaced launch queue of the first ultimate, these 42 waves are added at cast time. The small crescents are energy attacks, not just decorative purple sparks.
Terrain interaction — caution
• Only the two dual-Netherite special attacks call the terrain-cut routine. On casting, that routine attempts at most 12 selected natural TERRAIN blocks around the user (horizontal radius <= 10 blocks, and a two-layer vertical selection). It searches a limited list of terrain block types, not arbitrary inventories or placed machine blocks.
• This is still genuine block alteration. DO NOT use the ultimates near builds, farms or a valuable survival area without testing on a disposable world first. Blocks of a natural-looking type placed by a player cannot reliably be distinguished from naturally generated ones by this code; material-based filtering is NOT absolute structural protection.
• In v0.3.0 the routine does not request item drops from broken blocks. Later claims about preserving natural drops are not valid for this initial version.
Damage, knockback and timing
• Attack power is technique/school dependent rather than a simple rule that Netherite always beats Wood. The base values in source range from 6.5 (white training) to 37 (special school) before per-form scaling and per-stroke fractions, and some named finishers have special multipliers.
• The energy hitbox damages living entities and pushes them away. A particular travelling blade tracks which living entities it has already hit to avoid hitting the same living target repeatedly with that SAME blade. Different waves in a barrage can have independent hits.
• The v0.3.0 code uses a per-player shared cast timer. Usual skills are gated for 6 ticks (0.3 seconds); selected heavy / dragon / chain styles for 15 ticks (0.75 seconds); sense / clone / Bodhisattva styles for 35 ticks (1.75 seconds); the two special ultimates for 180 ticks (9 seconds). This is the INITIAL release logic, not the later removal of the ultimate cooldown.
• v0.3.0 does NOT implement the later stat-based per-hit sword-wear formula, the special fixed five-point durability rule, or the later temporary armor-boost system. Do not read newer update notes as instructions for this file. Normal vanilla item durability rules may still apply to ordinary attacks and items as normal.
• Emitted particle effects have a per-world tick cap in the code, so extremely crowded simultaneous skills may render less completely and could still affect client/server performance.
INSTALLATION & COMPATIBILITY
- Product: Breathing Sword Qi | 呼吸剣気
- Release: 0.3.0 INITIAL SUBMISSION (not 0.5.x)
- Game target: Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 ONLY (not the 26.3 preview/snapshot version).
- Mod loader: Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or later compatible release.
- Dependency: Fabric API for the matching 1.21.11 branch.
- Java runtime: Java 21+ compatible runtime.
- Mod ID: breathqi. Never place TWO versions of the same mod ID together in one mods folder.
- Singleplayer: install on the client that hosts the integrated singleplayer server.
- Multiplayer with authoritative damage/block changes: the server must ALSO support and run this Fabric mod and matching dependencies. A remote, unmodified Paper server will not run this Fabric JAR and will not grant its server-authoritative attack behavior simply because the client has the mod.
- Do not install the original Sword Qi reference project alongside this without checking potential left-click conflicts. This is an independent implementation, not a patch file for that reference JAR.
IMPORTANT FIRST-RELEASE LIMITATIONS
• This is a compiled initial build, not a guarantee that all original-series animations or every proposed feature has been fully implemented. Several original concepts are represented using particles and hitboxes rather than persistent complex entities or advanced AI.
• Initial rushes are only one-time movement impulses for a subset of techniques; they are not guaranteed to move the player a specified distance and they do not implement a six-point Thunder zigzag.
• The list intentionally includes the original source's existing moves. Missing or unrevealed numbered “Forms” have not been invented or silently filled in. The source-material naming is for fan reference, not a promise of identical behavior.
• Full local visual, survival balancing, large-barrage performance and network/anti-cheat tests were not performed in this environment. Compiled status does not establish compatibility with every multiplayer server.
• The world-editing side effects of the two ultimates are real and should be treated with care.
