# ◆ BondCraft Fabric v1.7.0 Update
BondCraft continues to evolve on Fabric 1.20.1.
This update introduces three new desert monsters, the new Individual Records and Role systems, a major overhaul to Bond mob owner-follow behavior, improved Portal Residue generation, Starting Village protection improvements, and numerous fixes and internal refinements across existing systems.
---
## ✨ Main Additions
### 3 New Monsters
Three new monsters have been added to the desert:
- **Dunemaw**
- **Voraflora**
- **Osshell**
Each monster introduces its own combat behavior, passive ability, and role within a Bond team.
### Individual Records System
Bond mobs can now maintain individual records that track their history and activity.
Records include:
- Contract Date
- Active Time
- Kill Count
- Down Count
- Recovery Count
These records belong to each individual Bond mob and are preserved through normal evolution.
For Fusion Evolution, the primary monster's records are inherited by the resulting monster.
### Role System
Bond mobs now have dedicated combat and support Roles.
Available Roles include:
- TANK
- HEALER
- DPS
- DEBUFF
- SUPPORT
- AURA
Some monsters can also have a secondary Role.
Roles are now displayed in Bond mob information and can be used as a filter in the Bond Manager.
---
## 🐛 Dunemaw
**Dunemaw** is a new Upper-class Insect-type monster found in the desert.
Dunemaw specializes in support while still being capable of close-range combat.
### Sand Strider
When bonded, Dunemaw supports its owner while they are standing on sand.
If the owner is nearby and standing on sand, their movement speed is increased.
### Combat Traits
Dunemaw also has several innate combat characteristics:
- Immune to poison effects
- Melee attacks can inflict Slowness
- Uses an extended melee range appropriate for its large body
Its melee handling has also been adjusted to prevent close-range dead zones caused by its body size.
---
## 🌵 Voraflora
**Voraflora** is a stationary carnivorous plant found in the desert.
Unlike most BondCraft monsters, Voraflora does not move around normally and instead fights as a stationary attacker.
### Feeding Ground
When bonded, Voraflora can recover HP when nearby mobs are defeated.
### Carnivorous Behavior
Wild Voraflora can prey upon **Osshell**.
This interaction remains possible even when the Osshell is bonded, creating a unique predator-prey relationship between the two desert monsters.
### Stationary AI
Voraflora uses specialized stationary behavior.
- Remains fixed in place during NORMAL behavior
- Can attack enemies within its effective range
- Re-evaluates targets to prevent distant target lock
- Cannot be moved through normal knockback
- Uses Safe Teleport when necessary while in FOLLOW mode
---
## 🦴 Osshell
**Osshell** is a new Lower-class Insect-type SUPPORT monster found in the desert.
Wild Osshell does not actively attack players, but it can retaliate when attacked.
### Bone Shell
When bonded and close to its owner, Osshell reduces the knockback received by the owner.
Multiple copies of Bone Shell do not stack with each other.
However, Bone Shell can work together with different sources of knockback reduction.
### Wild Behavior
Osshell is part of the desert ecosystem and can become prey for wild Voraflora.

## 🧭 Major Owner Follow Overhaul
Bond mob owner-follow behavior has been extensively redesigned.
A new common owner-follow system now handles movement and return behavior across BondCraft monsters.
The new system supports multiple movement profiles:
- **GROUND**
- **FLYING**
- **STATIONARY**
- **VOLDIS_SPECIAL**
This replaces many monster-specific follow implementations with a shared system while preserving monster-specific movement characteristics.
### Improved Follow Distances
Bond mobs now use multiple follow stages instead of relying on a single distance threshold.
Depending on behavior mode and distance from the owner, Bond mobs can:
- Remain near the owner without unnecessary movement
- Follow normally
- Follow at increased speed
- Safely teleport back to the owner when too far away
Large monsters also account for their physical width when determining an appropriate stopping distance.
### NORMAL Behavior
Bond mobs in NORMAL mode continue to participate in combat while remaining aware of their owner.
Nearby mobs can follow normally, while distant mobs can return to their owner when necessary.
Valid combat targets are preserved within the appropriate combat range so Bond mobs do not unnecessarily abandon active battles.
### FOLLOW Behavior
FOLLOW mode now prioritizes staying close to the owner using improved distance handling.
Bond mobs can transition between normal following, faster following, and Safe Teleport depending on distance.
### STANDBY Behavior
STANDBY behavior remains stationary.
Bond mobs in STANDBY do not automatically follow, teleport, navigate, or acquire combat targets.
---
## ✨ Safe Teleport System
Owner-follow teleportation has been redesigned to reduce unsafe or unnatural teleport behavior.
Safe Teleport now validates possible destinations before moving a Bond mob.
Checks include:
- Loaded chunks
- World Border
- Block collision
- Entity collision
- Owner collision
- Fluids
- Ground support where required
- Full monster collision size
The system does not force-load chunks.
Teleport candidates are searched around the owner, and failed attempts use a controlled retry delay rather than repeatedly attempting teleportation every tick.
### Ground Monsters
Ground monsters search for safe supported terrain around the owner.
Their full collision size is considered to prevent large monsters from being placed inside blocks or other invalid spaces.
### Flying Monsters
Flying Bond mobs use dedicated airborne destination checks and horizontal follow distance handling.
Vertical separation is also considered when determining whether a flying monster needs to return to its owner.
### Stationary Monsters
Stationary monsters remain fixed during NORMAL behavior.
When explicitly placed in FOLLOW mode, they can use Safe Teleport to relocate when they fall too far behind.
### Dominus: Voldis
Dominus: Voldis retains its own specialized large-monster follow profile.
Its large physical size and flying behavior use dedicated stopping distances, teleport distances, and destination checks.

## 📜 Individual Record Improvements
Individual Records are integrated with existing BondCraft systems.
### Record Persistence
Records are stored individually for each Bond mob and remain available after saving and reloading the world.
Legacy Bond mobs without existing record data remain compatible with the new system.
### Evolution
Normal Evolution preserves the monster's existing records.
This allows a monster's history to continue after evolving.
### Fusion Evolution
Fusion Evolution inherits records from the primary monster.
For example, when Lost Boy Noel is used as the primary monster for Fusion Evolution, the resulting Arcane Knight Noel inherits Noel's existing records.
Records from Fusion materials are not combined.
### Activity Tracking
Active Time is recorded only while a valid Bond mob is actively participating with its owner.
Reserve, Down, Recovering, and other inactive states are excluded where appropriate.
---
## 🏷 Role System Improvements
Every registered BondCraft monster now has dedicated Role metadata.
Roles describe the monster's primary gameplay function rather than directly modifying its statistics.
### Role Categories
**TANK**
Focused on endurance, protection, or damage mitigation.
**HEALER**
Focused on restoring HP or maintaining allied survivability.
**DPS**
Focused primarily on direct damage.
**DEBUFF**
Focused on harmful effects and enemy control.
**SUPPORT**
Focused on utility and other forms of assistance.
**AURA**
Focused on persistent or area-based influence.
### Bond Manager Role Filter
The Bond Manager now includes Role filtering.
Players can filter their Bond mobs by:
- ALL
- TANK
- HEALER
- DPS
- DEBUFF
- SUPPORT
- AURA
Type and Role filters can also be used together.
Monsters with either a matching primary or secondary Role are included in the appropriate filter.

## 🌀 Portal Residue Generation Improvements
Portal Residue generation has received a major distribution overhaul.
The previous generation behavior could result in overly uniform placement.
The new system creates more natural variation while maintaining minimum spacing between Residues.
### Improved Distribution
Changes include:
- Reduced overall generation frequency
- More varied regional density
- Deterministic seed-based distribution
- Minimum spacing between nearby Portal Residues
- Improved terrain validation
- Improved structure protection
- Desert generation support
Portal Residues can now form areas with slightly higher or lower density instead of appearing with overly consistent spacing across the world.
### Terrain Validation
Portal Residue placement now performs additional checks before generation.
These include:
- Terrain slope
- Nearby fluids
- Logs and leaves
- Valid surface blocks
- Nearby structures
- Existing Portal Residues
- Starting Village protection
Desert terrain now supports appropriate sand-based placement.
### Chunk Processing
Portal Residue evaluation has also been improved to prevent unnecessary repeated checks.
Previously evaluated chunks are tracked so they are not repeatedly reconsidered for generation.
The system continues to avoid force-loading surrounding chunks.
---
## 🏘 Starting Village Improvements
Starting Village placement and protection received additional stability improvements.
### Village Protection
Portal Residue generation now respects the planned Starting Village area.
This helps prevent Portal Residues from appearing too close to the Starting Village even during early world initialization.
### Placement Stability
Starting Village placement received additional terrain and location validation.
Improvements include checks for:
- Suitable terrain
- Grass coverage
- Trees
- Water
- Available space
Additional fallback searching is used when the initial location is unsuitable.
NPC recovery behavior also received additional stability improvements.
---
## ⚔ AI & State Improvements
Several existing AI systems were updated alongside the new owner-follow implementation.
### Down & Recovery
Owner-follow behavior now integrates more consistently with Down and Recovery states.
- Down mobs do not follow or participate in combat
- Recovering mobs do not acquire combat targets
- Recovery combat delay is respected
- Follow behavior resumes appropriately after recovery
- Existing combat targets are cleared where necessary
### Party & Reserve
Owner-follow behavior now respects Party state.
Active Party members can follow their owner normally.
Reserve monsters do not perform active owner-follow behavior.
Party restoration teleport behavior remains separate from normal distance-based following.
### Combat Return Behavior
Bond mobs now handle transitions between combat and owner-follow behavior more consistently.
This reduces cases where a mob immediately abandons combat, repeatedly switches navigation targets, or teleports unnecessarily.
