What's new

Better Inventory 1.2.1 (NeoForge 1.21.1, Fabric 1.21.1, Forge 1.20.1, Fabric 1.20.1)

  • Better Combat: crash fixed. With Better Combat installed, attacking could crash the game with a LinkageError at EventBus.handleException (a hidden stack overflow through ItemKinds.addsAttackDamage) as soon as another mod looked at what you hold while reacting to an item's attributes. Fixed on all four versions.
  • Better Combat: the rack weapon now fights like a held one. Combos advance through all their attacks (they were stuck on the first one), the first swing is no longer played at fist speed, and your character holds the rack weapon while swinging, in first person and in F5, instead of the block from your hotbar. Tested against Better Combat 2.4.0 (1.21.1) and 1.9.0 (1.20.1).
  • The rack tool shows in third person. In F5 your character now holds the pickaxe or sword the rack is using, like the first-person hand already did.
  • Better Inventory in creative mode. The creative screen keeps its item tabs; its inventory tab (the chest) now opens Better Inventory instead of Minecraft's survival inventory. A new tab on the Better Inventory screen, top left, takes you back to the items. An item on your cursor comes along when you click the chest tab, and the inventory key reopens whichever of the two you were on last. If you have switched to the vanilla inventory with the swap button, creative stays vanilla too.
  • Shift + E opens Minecraft's own inventory. The "Open the vanilla inventory" key, unbound in 1.2.0, now has a default: hold Shift and press the inventory key. Plain E still opens Better Inventory. It opens the vanilla screen once and does not switch you over to it.
    • NeoForge and Forge: the key shows as Shift + E under Controls, Better Inventory, and can be rebound or unbound there. If it was still unbound from 1.2.0 it is set to Shift + E once; a key you bound yourself is left alone.
    • Fabric: key bindings have no modifiers there, so the key stays "Not Bound" in Controls and Shift + your inventory key does the job while it is unbound. Bind it to a key of its own and that key is used instead.
