What's new
Better Inventory 1.3.0 (NeoForge 1.21.1, Fabric 1.21.1, Forge 1.20.1, Fabric 1.20.1)
- Bundles are craftable. Minecraft only got a bundle recipe in 1.21.2, so it is backported here: string over leather, one above the other, makes a bundle. A bundle holds what it always did (64 items' worth), whatever your stack upgrade allows in the inventory.
- Furnace Crafting Upgrade. A new last tier of the crafting upgrade: the full 3x3 grid plus a furnace of your own. Click the crafting tab a second time to switch from the grid to the furnace (a third click goes back to your character). It smelts like a furnace block, keeps going while the inventory is closed, and gives its experience when you take the result. Shift-click sends ores and fuel straight into it while it is open. Take the upgrade out and whatever was in the furnace is handed back to you. Crafted from an Advanced Crafting Upgrade surrounded by seven furnaces, with a blast furnace below it.
- Tabs without a backpack (config
tabs.requireBackpack, on by default). Turn it off and every tab, the 5x9 extra area and the three ability-upgrade slots are unlocked for everyone from the start, with no backpack and no backpack upgrades needed. Backpacks still work as placeable storage. Changing the setting moves each player's stored items across the next time they are online; nothing is deleted or dropped either way, and what has no room yet waits and follows on its own. If you die, what the tabs held drops as a single backpack that unpacks itself when you pick it up again. - Tabs that only swap the extra slots (config
tabs.swapMainInventory, on by default). Turn it off and your main inventory stays the same on every tab: switching tabs then only pages the 5x9 extra area. Whatever a tab was still holding in its own main slots moves into that tab's extra area, or your default tab's, or your inventory. Nothing is dropped: what has no room yet is kept and follows as soon as you make some, and you get a chat message saying so. - Corpse mod compatibility (NeoForge 1.21.1 and Forge 1.20.1, the two loaders Corpse exists for). Oversized stacks are split into ordinary ones before they go into the corpse, so its screen no longer cuts them down and loses the rest. And its "transfer items" button now sends your rack, hub, offhand, armour set and backpack straight back to the slots they came from, even with a full inventory.
- Fixed: trading could delete items. With a stack upgrade, clicking a trade moved a whole oversized stack into the villager's payment slot, which only holds 99, and the rest was gone. The payment slot now takes one ordinary stack and leaves the rest in your inventory. This affected the 1.21.1 builds; the 1.20.1 builds were not affected.
Both new settings are in the common config: config/betterinventory-common.toml on NeoForge and Forge, the common section of config/betterinventory.json on Fabric. On a server they are the server's settings.
