Better Cubic Chunks 0.1.1 Beta (NeoForge 1.21.1)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
0.1.1
Caves and distant terrain (with the cubic Distant Horizons build)
- Caves in distant terrain are carved from the terrain's own density at block resolution: no more stacks of slabs, no missing tunnels.
- Cave LODs are dark instead of randomly lit, and caves under the ground no longer show the sky's colour on their walls by day.
- LOD columns are no longer collapsed into their top block (forests were drawn as dark leaf pillars, plains as solid grass). Delete a world's
data/DistantHorizons.sqliteonce to rebuild LODs made by older versions. - Hillsides at the edge of generated terrain are lit instead of black.
World generation
- Underground, only what open air reaches from the player is generated, instead of the whole view of solid rock: flying through caves keeps up.
- Underground LOD sections cost about a hundredth of what they did.
Flying
- Without LODs, the ground below a flying player stays visible out to the render distance and fades into the fog as in vanilla, instead of breaking into holes about 130 blocks up.
- Clouds float above the highest ground in view and no longer rise with the player.
Needs the matching Better Distant Horizons build for the LOD fixes.
