Description

Beckon

Never lose a drop again.

Beckon adds loot beams to dropped items. Diamonds, enchanted gear, rare items and anything else worth picking up get a soft beam of light in their own color, so you can spot them from across a cave, a battlefield or a mob farm. Look at a drop and you see its name and count. Items blink before they despawn, and when you die, your items get tall golden beams so you can find them again.

Beckon is client-side only. Install it and join any server, vanilla or modded.

Features

Loot beams

  • Valuable drops get a glowing beam with a soft pool of light on the ground under it.
  • Each beam takes the item's own color: the rarity color (aqua for rare, purple for epic), the color of a custom name, or the main color of the item's texture. A diamond sword glows blue, gold glows gold.
  • Beams gently pulse and can be seen from far away, day or night.
  • Stacks of the same item lying close together share one beam, so a pile of loot doesn't become a wall of light.

Item labels

  • Look at a dropped item to see its name and count above it.
  • Items right next to you get a label too.
  • Merged stacks show the total count.

Despawn warning

  • Items start to blink during their last 30 seconds, faster and faster, so you know what is about to vanish.

Death drops

  • When you die, the items you drop get tall golden beams.
  • Their labels show the item name and count, so you can find and grab what matters first.

What counts as valuable?

By default, Beckon shows beams for:

  • uncommon, rare and epic items
  • enchanted items and books
  • items with a custom name
  • tools, weapons and armor
  • diamonds, emeralds, netherite, ancient debris, blocks of diamond, emerald, gold and netherite, shulker boxes, gems and music discs

Switch to All Items to beam every drop, or Listed Items to beam only what you choose. You can add or hide items by id or tag in config/beckon.json.

Modded items

Beam colors come from each item's rarity and texture, so items from other mods work without any setup. Modded gems, rare loot and gear get beams in their own colors.

Settings

Open the settings from Mod Menu (Fabric) or the Mods list (NeoForge / Forge).

FAQ

Does it work on servers? Yes. Beckon is client-side only. Install it on your own game and join any server. The server doesn't need it, and other players don't need it either.

Is this allowed on servers with anti-cheat? Beckon only draws beams on items your game can already see, the same items you would see anyway. It doesn't reveal anything hidden. If you're unsure, ask the server's staff.

Does it work with modded items? Yes. Colors come from each item's rarity and texture, and modded rare items, gear and gems count as valuable.

Does it work with resource packs? Yes. Beam colors are taken from whatever texture is loaded.

Why is the despawn warning sometimes early or late on servers? On a server, your game only knows how long an item has existed since you first saw it. In singleplayer it's exact.

Performance? Beckon only looks at dropped items near you, caps the number of beams (64 by default) and caches every color. You won't notice it.

Can I use it in my modpack? Yes, of course!

Found a bug?

Report it on the issue tracker with your Minecraft version, loader, and what you saw. A screenshot helps a lot.
