🎒 Backpackland

Backpackland is a feature-rich and highly expandable backpack mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge, designed to provide convenient portable storage while adding unique progression and special abilities without replacing the vanilla inventory system.

Equip a backpack, carry more items, unlock powerful upgrades, and discover specialized backpacks inspired by different mobs.

✨ Features

🎒 Wearable Backpacks

• Right-click a backpack in your hand to equip it directly onto your back.
• Equipped backpacks are rendered as 3D models on the player's back.
• Open your equipped backpack with B.
• Press B again while the backpack is open to close it.
• Backpacks are non-stackable.
• A dedicated backpack button is available in the inventory for quick access to Open Backpack and Unequip Backpack.
• Works in both Survival and Creative.

📦 Upgradeable Storage

The standard backpack progression is:

Leather → Iron → Gold → Diamond → Netherite

Each upgrade increases storage by one full row (9 slots):

Your items are fully preserved when upgrading. Upgrading a backpack will never empty or reset its contents.

👹 Special Mob Backpacks

Backpackland also introduces special backpacks crafted using materials dropped by mobs.

These backpacks replace the normal backpack rather than being part of the standard material upgrade chain. Special backpacks cannot be upgraded into Iron, Gold, Diamond, or Netherite backpacks.

Each one provides a unique ability:

• 🧟 Zombie Backpack — Reduces damage from undead sources by 20%.
• 💀 Skeleton Backpack — Reduces projectile damage.
• 💥 Creeper Backpack — Reduces explosion damage.
• 🟣 Enderman Backpack — Teleports you up to 48 blocks in the direction you're looking, with a cooldown.
• 🕷️ Spider Backpack — Allows you to climb solid walls.
• 🔥 Blaze Backpack — Provides fire resistance.
• 🟢 Slime Backpack — Reduces fall damage and provides a bouncing effect.
• 👻 Phantom Backpack — Provides slow falling.
• 🌊 Guardian Backpack — Provides underwater breathing and improved underwater visibility.

All special backpack abilities are designed to be modular and configurable.

⚙️ Server-Friendly & Reliable

Backpackland uses a server-authoritative architecture for important gameplay mechanics.

• Backpack contents are stored safely with the backpack.
• Upgrade recipes preserve inventory data.
• Backpacks drop as physical items when the player dies, with their contents remaining inside.
• Multiplayer synchronization is handled through networking.
• Abilities and teleportation are validated server-side.
• Configurable gameplay values can be adjusted through the mod configuration.

🎨 Original Assets

Backpackland's backpack icons, textures, GUI elements and 3D backpack designs are created specifically for the mod.

No assets are intentionally copied from other mods, resource packs, or third-party Minecraft projects.

The visual design is built around a consistent progression from simple leather equipment to advanced Netherite gear, while special backpacks receive their own distinctive designs.

🔧 Built for Expansion

Backpackland is designed as a modular framework, making future backpack tiers, special backpacks, abilities, recipes and visual designs easier to add.

The system is not limited to the currently included backpacks — additional backpack types and mechanics can be introduced without redesigning the entire storage system.
