Description

Artificer's Workbench

Matter, alchemy, and arcana on one bench. Never experience.

Craft the Artificer's Workbench, put it down, click it. Two tabs: Artificing and Relics. One click is one atomic job — if the recipe is not valid, nothing is spent. Break the block: it comes back once, with whatever was still on it. Hoppers cannot feed it.

This is not the Enchantment Workbench. That bench pulls, copies, and evokes enchantments. This one builds things: tipped arrows, nine rechargeable artifacts, and (if a Relic mod is installed) a deliberate rebuild of a Relic you did not find.

It is not a Relic. Relics are rare finds. The Workbench is a station you craft before the Nether. The vanilla crafting table stays.

Creative still pays materials. Never XP. Never fuel.

Crafting

No Nether ingredients.

A L A
G W G
I D I
A Amethyst shard
L Lapis lazuli
G Gold ingot
W Crafting table
I Iron ingot
D Diamond

Iron for structure. Gold for special work. Amethyst for resonance. Lapis for ordinary magic. Diamond for stability. The table is the craft.

Artificing

Tipped arrows first, so the bench is useful before any artifact. Eight arrows, a drinkable potion that actually has effects, one lapis → eight tipped arrows. The bottle comes back. The 8-minute (redstone) or strong (glowstone) version also asks one amethyst. Water, mundane, awkward, thick, splash, and lingering do not match.

Then nine artifacts. They do not burn up. They discharge and you Infuse them again — right-click the artifact, not the bench.

Active only in the hotbar, at most three types (leftmost slots). A fourth sits idle until you remove an active one; then the next from the left takes its place. Same type twice: the leftmost copy works. Idle in the hotbar costs nothing.

HUD sits to the right of the hotbar, a short column upward: icon and percent. It does not sit on the health bar.

Work costs 1 charge every 6 seconds (effects still tick every second). Full bar 100 ≈ 10 minutes of work — longer than an 8-minute vanilla potion. Trial charge 20 ≈ 2 minutes. Fill it with Infuse before a long trip.

They mitigate. They do not cancel the world.

Frost Warden and Ember Warden were made for Cold Sweat heat and cold. Cold Sweat is not required: without it they still work from nearby lava, magma, fire, ice, and snow.

Artifact What it does It does not
Frost Warden Cools you when you are too hot. Built for Cold Sweat (Nether heat included); nearby lava/magma/fire if CS is not installed Lava, fire, direct damage (that is Ash Aegis)
Ember Warden Warms you when you are too cold. Built for Cold Sweat; ice/snow blocks if CS is not installed A Nether requirement (Nether only recharges better)
Depth Lung Restores air while submerged and drowning Swim speed, mining, night sight underwater
Twilight Eye Sight when light is actually low (no vanilla Night Vision fade) Blindness, Darkness, ore ESP
Sky Feather Cancels fall damage on landing The Void. Walking costs nothing
Purifying Heart Clears Poison and Wither Every other debuff
Ash Aegis Puts out fire each second Fire Resistance: lava still hurts
Hand of Calling Pulls dropped items within 6 Inventories, mobs, XP, shots, through walls
Veil of Silence Mutes your Sculk vibrations Invisibility, other players' steps, extra Warden rules

Gold is not generic currency. It shows up on special work: the Veil, and Relic Reconstruction.

A short illustrated player handbook (recipes, icons, Infuse) is on the studio site, in English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese: worldsfromblocks.com/projects/minecraft/artificers-workbench. Match the handbook version to the jar.

Artifact recipes

On this bench, Artificing tab — not the vanilla crafting table. Materials and arcane cost are separate. Cost numbers appear as soon as the ingredients match (red until paid, green when met). Each craft starts at 20 charge / 100.

Infuse

Right-click the artifact. Charge never uses XP. The 8-minute bottle is the vanilla potion extended with redstone in the brewing stand (Slow Falling becomes 4 min). It is not a custom item.

Relics (optional)

Relics are still found. Reconstruction is a long, expensive alternative to luck — not a cheaper one.

Arcane Fragments are one item type, many pieces, easier than Relics (~22% in dungeon, mineshaft, buried treasure, shipwreck, desert pyramid, jungle temple, stronghold corridor, village temple chests; 1–2 per hit). Eight fragments + 4 amethyst + 1 diamond + 4 gold → a Relic Core on this bench.

The Core does not pick the Relic. You do. Each Relic mod registers its own rebuild. Without those mods the Relics tab stays empty: find Relics in the world. The Workbench does not require HAVEN, TRACE, ECHO, ANCHOR, CAGE, or RECLAIM.

What it is not

No XP. No hoppers. No fuel. No Enchantment Workbench. No altar, no SPELL, no tomes. No free Relic. No biome-name temperature. No permanent Strength, regen, or Mending. The vanilla crafting table remains.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft: 1.21.1
  • Mod loader: NeoForge
  • Client & Server
  • Multiplayer supported
  • Standalone — artifacts work with no other Worlds From Blocks mod
  • Cold Sweat (optional): Frost Warden and Ember Warden were built for its temperatures. Not required — without it they use nearby thermal blocks
  • Relic mods (optional): Relic Reconstruction if that Relic is installed. They do not require this bench to spawn in the world.
