Artifacts Remastered
Somewhere under the next hill there is a chest that has been waiting for you. Inside is a strange little charm, a pair of boots, or a hat someone lost a long time ago. You can't craft any of it. You have to go out and find it.
Artifacts Remastered is a Fabric 1.21.1 fork of Artifacts by ochotonida. It keeps what made the original good: powerful items with one clear effect each, hidden in structures, buried in the sand, worn by the odd zombie, and guarded by mimics. On top of that it adds 16 new artifacts (64 in total), fixes a pile of bugs, runs lighter, and plays nicely with big modpacks.

What's new in Remastered
- 16 new artifacts. Sunglasses, Frost Gauntlet, Echo Pendant, Bottomless Quiver, Witch Hat, Chef's Hat and ten more. All of them are found, never crafted.
- Balance changes. The Villager Hat can no longer make trades nearly free. The Antidote Vessel halves the length of negative effects instead of clamping them to 5 seconds (the old behaviour is a config option). Kitty Slippers calm wild cats. The Pickaxe Heater works with vein miners.
- Bug fixes. Unequipping an artifact no longer strips a longer potion effect you already had. Warp Drive no longer wipes the ender pearl cooldown. Fluid-walking artifacts respect their toggle and config for hot-floor damage. Double jumps are checked by the server. Several config and tooltip slips are fixed too. See the changelog for the full list.
- Performance work. Artifacts check your equipment once per tick instead of once per ability, mob effects are only refreshed when they are missing or about to run out, and config sync uses one packet instead of roughly 150.
- Modpack compatibility. Artifacts can appear in chests of modded structures. Pickaxe Heater works with FTB Ultimine. Creeper Overhaul creepers respect Kitty Slippers. The Umbrella stays upright with animation mods like Entity Model Features. Works with both Trinkets and Accessories.
- Wandering trader buyback. Wandering traders offer to buy 2 random artifacts for 12 emeralds each, so spare artifacts are never dead weight.
- Collector advancements. A new advancement tab with one advancement per artifact, one per slot, and Treasure Hoarder for finding all 64. Handy for quest packs.

How to find artifacts
There is no crafting recipe for any artifact, with one cooking exception (see the last bullet). Explore.
- Structure chests. Artifacts are mixed into the loot of vanilla structures: abandoned mineshafts, ancient cities, bastions, buried treasure, desert pyramids, dungeons, end cities, igloos, jungle temples, nether fortresses, pillager outposts, ruined portals, shipwrecks, strongholds, underwater ruins, woodland mansions, the bonus chest, and the chests of many village buildings. Each artifact has its own list of places, so you have to look around to complete a set.
- Archaeology. Brush suspicious sand and gravel in desert pyramids, desert wells, warm and cold ocean ruins and rare trail ruins. Each block has a 1 in 16 chance to hold an artifact.
- Underground campsites. Small abandoned camps generate between Y -60 and Y 40. Their chests hold supplies and sometimes an artifact.
- Mimics. Some campsite chests bite back (3 in 10 by default). Kill the mimic and it drops a random artifact.
- Mob equipment. Now and then a skeleton, zombie, husk, drowned, stray, bogged, piglin, piglin brute, zombified piglin or wither skeleton shows up wearing one. The default chance is 0.15 %. Ghasts only get dressed up on April Fools' Day.
- Witches. A witch killed by a player drops a Witch Hat 2 % of the time.
- Wandering trader buyback. Traders offer to buy 2 random artifacts for 12 emeralds each, one sale per offer. It doesn't hand you artifacts, but you can sell spare ones.
- Other mods' structures. With the default settings, artifacts also appear in chests from supported structure mods such as YUNG's, Adventure Dungeons, Illager Invasion, Terralith and Repurposed Structures.
- Everlasting Beef and Eternal Steak. Cows and mooshrooms killed by a player occasionally drop an Everlasting Beef (1 in 500). Cook it in a furnace, smoker or campfire to get an Eternal Steak. A cow that dies while burning drops it already cooked.

Requirements and compatibility
Required
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- Fabric Loader 0.16.5 or newer
- Fabric API
To wear artifacts, install at least one of these
Without one of them, most artifacts can be picked up but not worn, and their tooltips will tell you so. The Umbrella and the food items don't need either.
Optional
- Cloth Config and Mod Menu, for the in-game config screen.
- Transmog, for cosmetic display of equipped artifacts.
Good to know
- This replaces the original Artifacts. It uses the same mod id (
artifacts), so do not install both. Existing worlds keep their artifacts, and datapacks or addons that target Artifacts keep working.
- Client and server must run the same version. Item settings are sent from the server to every player who joins.
- Compatibility work covers FTB Ultimine, Creeper Overhaul, Lootr, Quark, and structure mods such as YUNG's, Adventure Dungeons, Illager Invasion, Terralith and Repurposed Structures.
- Animation mods. Entity Model Features, Not Enough Animations and animation packs such as Fresh Animations can pose the arms in ways that flip a held Umbrella. The client option
umbrellaRenderMode in client.toml handles it: auto (default) switches to compat when Entity Model Features or Not Enough Animations is installed, while vanilla and compat force one behaviour.

Configuration
Config files are created on first launch in config/artifacts/:
items.toml: one section per artifact. Every artifact has generateAsLoot (set it to false to stop it appearing in loot or being bought by traders), plus its own numbers such as durations, chances, bonuses and cooldowns. Edits apply while the game is running. On a server, changes are sent to connected players.
general.toml: loot, spawns, campsites, slots, loot injection and trader buyback.
client.toml: visuals and tooltips.

FAQ
Does it work on Forge or NeoForge?
No. This is Fabric 1.21.1 only. For NeoForge, use the original Artifacts.
Can I use it in my modpack?
Yes. No permission needed. Keep the MIT license notice, and make sure the original Artifacts is not in the pack too.
How is it related to the original Artifacts?
It is a fork of Artifacts 13.2.5 with the same mod id, item ids and config keys. Remastered adds 16 new artifacts, a few balance changes, bug fixes, performance work, modpack compatibility, trader buyback and collector advancements. You can swap it into an existing world.
Can I use Curios?
Curios is not available on Fabric 1.21.1. Fabric players use Trinkets or Accessories.
