Angler's Edge
Fishing in vanilla Minecraft is one button and a long wait. Angler's Edge turns it into a full progression loop: better gear, smarter bait, automation, a reason to care what you catch, and the occasional fight for your life when something big takes the line.
Gear
Three rod tiers — Sturdy Rod, Angler's Rod, and the Leviathan Rod — each with its own luck and lure bonus, plus a chance for a bonus catch on the top tier. The Sturdy Rod is craftable at a vanilla bench; the other two are built at the Upgrade Station.
Four bait types, held in your off-hand while you fish: Basic Bait upgrades junk into real fish, Shiny Lure adds a chance at bonus treasure, Frenzy Bait doubles your catch, and Ghost Bait guarantees treasure outright. Works with vanilla rods too. Baited casts trail particles that match the bait's effect, so you can see it working from across the dock.
The Upgrade Station turns rods and bait into a real crafting destination — feed it a rod and the right material and the upgraded rod appears instantly, same feel as vanilla's crafting grid.
Automation
The Auto-Fisher sits next to water and fishes on its own, dropping the results into its own inventory (hoppers can pull straight from it). Add a Net to a fresh one to build it, drop in a Reel Upgrade to fish faster, or set a filter to keep only what you want. Weather and time of day affect its odds exactly like they do yours.
What you actually catch
Seven new species beyond vanilla's four: Glimmerfin and the Swamp Eel show up in their matching biomes, the Reef Crab and Anglerfish turn up along coastlines, and the Abyssal Ray, Shark Tooth, and Leviathan Scale are rarer finds tied to the game's more dangerous encounters.
Every catch is weighed and named on the spot — a "Massive Glimmerfin" hits different than a plain one — and every species carries a fixed rarity tier from Common up through Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Boss, so you always know how good a pull actually was.
The Fishing Journal logs every species you've caught and how many of each, so you've got a real record to fill in rather than just a memory of "I think I got one of those once."
Show it off
The Fish Trophy is a display case: mount your best catch and it floats above the case, slowly turning, with its name, size, and rarity rendered right there in the world — not just in a tooltip.
The Breeding Tank lets you pair up two matching fish next to water and farm them over time instead of re-fishing for the same species every time you need more.
The water fights back
Fishing isn't always safe. A Reef Shark occasionally shows up to contest your line in ocean or river water. Much rarer, the Ancient Leviathan — a genuine boss encounter — rises and has to be fought before it'll give up its scales. And sometimes, out past the waves, you'll just catch sight of something enormous passing by and nothing more.
Why install this
If you like fishing in vanilla but wish it did more than sit there, Angler's Edge is built to be the mod that makes the rod worth carrying — progression, automation, collection, and a little bit of danger, all built around the loop you already know.
