Performance Improvements, Carcass Fixes & Farmer's Delight Compatibility

Major Performance Improvements

  • Fixed severe FPS drops when looking at or targeting large carcasses, including the Laviathan, Void Worm, Cave Centipede and Farseer.
  • Optimized carcass selection: Outlines are now generated once instead of recalculated every frame, with faster targeting and significantly fewer unnecessary checks.
  • Improved rendering performance: Carcasses now use their actual model dimensions for visibility checks instead of oversized bounding boxes.
  • Gameplay remains unchanged: Mining speed, tool requirements, interaction reach, drops and protection mod compatibility are preserved.

Carcass Placement & Visual Fixes

  • Fixed floating carcasses: Moose, bison, rhinoceroses, kangaroos, tigers, centipedes and other creatures now rest naturally on the ground instead of hovering above it.
  • Fixed moose antlers: Antlerless moose no longer float due to invisible antlers. Antlered and antlerless variants now maintain their correct poses and selection areas.
  • Improved large creature positioning: The Farseer now lies properly on its side, while segmented creatures such as the Void Worm, Cave Centipede, Anaconda and Bone Serpent rest naturally along the ground.
  • Better terrain compatibility: Carcasses correctly rest on slabs, paths, soul sand, carpets and snow without destroying the blocks underneath them.
  • Improved fluid placement: Carcasses now settle at the bottom of water or lava. Creatures killed above the void retain their normal drops instead of spawning unreachable carcasses.
  • More accurate hitboxes: Selection areas now match visible carcass anatomy, including different moose variants and creatures resting on partial blocks.
  • Existing worlds supported: Placement and visual improvements apply to existing carcasses without requiring replacements.

Farmer's Delight Compatibility

  • Improved knife integration: Farmer's Delight knives now respect Butchery's own carcass-dropping configuration.
  • Butchery 5.3 support: Knives drop Alex's Mobs carcasses only when the "Farmers Delight Knives Drop Carcasses" option is enabled. This setting is disabled by default.
  • Preserved Butchery rules: Butcher's Touch, cleaver-only restrictions and knives that also count as cleavers continue to follow Butchery's original behavior.
  • Butchery 5.2 compatibility: Older versions remain supported, with Farmer's Delight knives retaining their existing cleaver behavior.
  • Corrected denied drops: When a weapon isn't eligible to produce a carcass, creatures retain their normal drops and no carcass-related advancement is awarded.

Stability & Compatibility

  • Improved multiplayer reliability: Carcass targeting and interactions remain consistent between clients and dedicated servers.
  • Better mod compatibility: Protection mods continue to prevent unauthorized interactions, including at longer distances.
  • Additional compatibility checks: The server now warns when installed Alex's Mobs or Citadel versions differ from those used to generate carcass selection data.
  • Expanded testing: Added checks for carcass placement, rendering performance, weapon compatibility, targeting accuracy, existing-world upgrades and multiplayer behavior.

Overall: This update significantly improves performance around large carcasses, fixes floating and incorrectly positioned models, and makes Farmer's Delight knife compatibility more reliable while preserving existing gameplay mechanics.
