Graves
Never lose your items to a careless death again. When you die, a grave rises where you fell — holding everything you carried.
Graves is a vanilla datapack for Minecraft: Java Edition 26.3. No mods, no plugins, no resource pack. The moment you die, a small memorial appears at your death spot: a chest with your inventory, a barrel with your armor, hotbar overflow and offhand item, topped with a skeleton skull and a sign reading "R.I.P." plus the day you died.
How it works
- Die (in survival or adventure mode).
- A grave is raised where you fell — your scattered drops are gathered into it automatically.
- Walk back and loot your chest and barrel like normal containers.
- Once both are empty, the grave disappears without a trace. Skull, sign, everything — cleaned up by itself.
Features
- Full inventory rescue — inventory, armor, and offhand item, all saved; nothing left scattered (XP orbs still drop naturally)
- Real memorial — skeleton skull + "R.I.P." sign dated with the day you died
- Self-cleaning — empty it (or break it) and the whole grave vanishes; no leftover blocks or entities
- Honest fallbacks — died in lava? It tells you your items burned. Died in the void or a cramped spot? Items drop naturally with a message. Nothing ever vanishes silently
- Multiplayer-safe — per-player death handling, no cross-player leaks
- Simple admin control — /function graves:info for help, /function graves:config/toggle to enable/disable globally
Installation
- Download the .zip.
- Drop it into your world's datapacks/ folder.
- Run /reload. Done.
