WHY I MADE THIS ADDON
What is up, Minecraft survival players? Let us talk about a real problem in the game right now. Vanilla nights are completely boring. Once you get a basic set of iron armor, a shield, and a decent sword, surviving the night is just a boring chore. You just run around one-shotting zombies without any fear, or worse, you just place down a bed and skip the entire night in three seconds.
There is zero challenge and absolutely zero panic. I wanted to bring that actual survival horror feeling back into Minecraft. I wanted you and your friends to actually sweat when the sun goes down. That is exactly why I created the VOXELBRO Blood Moon addon. This is not just a simple mob spawner or a basic difficulty tweak. This is a complete, terrifying survival event that will push you to your absolute limits and make you afraid of the dark again.
HOW THE EVENT TRIGGERS
You do not need to build any weird altars or craft complicated items to start this event. It is designed to hit you when you least expect it. Every single night in your survival world, there is a random eight percent chance that the Blood Moon will rise. When it happens, you will immediately know. The sky changes, a massive alert pops up on your screen, and an incredibly creepy heartbeat sound starts playing in the background.
If you are a server admin or you just want to test your combat skills immediately, I also added a secret manual trigger. If you have operator permissions, all you have to do is hold a standard compass, crouch, and use it. This will force the event to start right then and there. If you are ever paranoid, you can also hold a normal book and sneak to check your current moon status and see how much time is left before dawn.
THE ANTI CHEESE MECHANICS
Now, I already know what you are thinking. You are probably saying, Voxelbro, if the event starts, I will just place a bed in a dirt hut and sleep through it to skip the danger. No, you will not. I completely removed that coward strategy from the game. If you try to place a bed and interact with it while the Blood Moon is active, the bed will literally spawn primed TNT and explode right in your face. The game will laugh at you and tell you that the Blood Moon prevents sleep. You are forced to stay awake, and you are forced to fight for your life. There is no hiding and no skipping.
DYNAMIC ARMOR SCALING
This is one of my favorite features in the entire Add-on. I wanted this event to be fair for fresh players who just started their world, but absolutely brutal for endgame tryhards. The system actively checks what armor tier you are wearing on your chest. If you are running around in basic leather or iron gear, the game will spawn a manageable amount of enemies. But if you walk out there flexing full enchanted diamond or netherite armor, the script detects your high tier and massively multiplies the mob spawn counts around you. The stronger your gear is, the more enemies the game throws at you to balance the fight.
THE FOUR WAVES OF CHAOS
The event is split into four distinct time-based waves, and each one is worse than the last. Wave one is the Horde, where you get swarmed by massive groups of standard zombies, skeletons, and spiders just to drain your stamina early on. Wave two is Creeping Death, which brings in creepers, cave spiders, and witches to poison you and blow up your cover. Wave three is called Champions. This is where things get really sweaty. You will face vindicators, evokers, and pillagers, and they all have boosted health multipliers. Finally, right before dawn, wave four drops the Boss wave. A massive Ravager with triple the normal health pool will spawn. You have to take it down while the timer ticks away.
MILESTONES AND THE CURSED MOON
You are not just surviving for nothing. Every single mob you kill during the event drops Blood Shards, which are tracked on a custom action bar on your screen. The game also tracks your total lifetime kills and how many moons you have survived. If you manage to survive your first, fifth, or tenth moon, the whole server gets a custom broadcast announcement. If you survive twenty five moons, the game rewards you with a free netherite ingot. If you survive fifty, you get a literal dragon egg. There are even secret easter eggs. If you hit exactly six hundred and sixty six total kills, you are gifted a nether star.
But beware the number thirteen. Every thirteenth Blood Moon you experience is a special Cursed Moon. The sounds change, the messages get much darker, and the mobs drop triple the shards. It is genuinely terrifying. Also, if you play like an absolute pro and take zero damage during an entire event, you get a special Perfect Survival rating when the sun comes up.
