Tactical Villagers

Villages that fight back.

Iron golems are great, but a village of one bodyguard and forty panicking farmers has never felt like a settlement that can defend itself. Tactical Villagers adds three tiers of armoured village defender who patrol, hold the line, and put down anything hostile that wanders too close.

No experimental toggles. No scripts. Works out of the box.

The Units

Tactical Villager — the Guard. The backbone of the militia. Olive field robe, plated vest with chest and mag pouches, utility belt and a goggled combat helmet. Carries an iron sword and charges anything hostile within 20 blocks. 30 HP · 6 damage · melee

Tactical Ranger — the marksman. Lighter, faster and squishier. Hooded, with a leather bandolier and a quiver of arrows on his back. Carries a bow and opens fire from 15 blocks — usually before the Guard has noticed there's a problem. 24 HP · ranged

Tactical Commander — the officer. A rare elite with a crimson helmet plume, brass pauldrons, gold-trimmed armour and an officer's sash. Swings an enchanted iron sword and shrugs off knockback that would send a Guard flying. 50 HP · 9 damage · elite melee

How They Behave

They register as village defenders, patrol toward the nearest settlement, and respond to threats against it. They target any hostile mob — zombies, skeletons, spiders, pillagers, witches — while ignoring cows, sheep and villagers. They leave creepers alone deliberately, so your guards won't detonate one in the village square. Hit one and it remembers. They open doors, path around hazards, and sound like villagers, because they are.

Getting Them

Guards and Rangers spawn uncommonly on the surface in the five village biomes — plains, taiga, savanna, desert and snowy — then make their way toward the nearest village. Commanders are rarer: roughly 1 in 16 Guards is promoted the moment it spawns, so finding one is a genuine event. Spawn eggs for all three are in the Creative inventory.

Known Limitations

They spawn near villages, not strictly inside them. Bedrock's spawn rules can filter by biome and block but cannot target a village structure — an engine limitation, not an oversight.

The Ranger has no melee fallback. Corner it and it keeps trying to shoot.

Not tameable, hireable or tradeable. They're defenders, not companions.
