Description

Obe's Wayfinder

Never get lost again. A compass bar at the top of your screen, like in the big open-world games: N, E, S and W slide past as you turn, and your markers, your death point and your friends show on it. Two new tools find ores and biomes for you, and point the way on the same bar.

The compass bar

  • Shows N, E, S, W (N in red), NE, SE, SW, NW and a tick every 15°, across what's in front of you.
  • Markers within 300 blocks show on it as coloured icons. Face one and its name and distance show under the bar, with an arrow if it's above or below you.
  • Your death point: dying puts a skull on the bar where you died. Walk back to it and it goes away.
  • Other players in your dimension show as a blue figure, with their name when you face them.
  • Show the bar always, only while holding a compass, or never. It's your choice, per player.

Markers

Use any compass (normal, lodestone or recovery) to open the menu.

  • Add marker here puts a marker where you stand: give it a name, an icon (dot, diamond, house, star or flag) and one of 8 colours.
  • Make it private or shared with everyone on the server.
  • The marker list shows them nearest first, with their distance. Hide any marker from your bar, and edit or delete your own (operators can manage all of them).
  • Two switches: Other players (see them on your bar) and Show me to others.

Block Detector

Pick what to look for: any ore (deepslate ones too), ancient debris, budding amethyst, a spawner or a chest. While you hold the detector, the nearest one within 128 blocks shows on the bar as a gold target, and under the bar you always see its name, its distance and an arrow up or down. When it's behind you, the target waits at the edge of the bar so you know which way to turn.

Biome Compass

Pick a biome (cherry grove, mushroom fields, badlands, ice spikes, deep dark, the Nether's warped forest and 50 more) and it finds the nearest one, up to about 4000 blocks away, even in land nobody has explored yet. While you hold it, the biome shows on the bar with its distance, and it tells you when you've arrived.

Crafting

Block Detector: an amethyst shard, two iron ingots, a compass and redstone.

Iron Ingot Compass Iron Ingot

Biome Compass: four logs (any wood) around a compass.

With cheats on you can also use /give @s wayfinder:block_detector or /give @s wayfinder:biome_compass.

Made for every input

Everything works with one button on a controller, touch screen or keyboard: use a compass, the detector or the Biome Compass to open its menu. The bar sits below the touch controls' top row, so it doesn't get in the way on a phone.

Good to know

  • The Block Detector can only see the world that's loaded around you, so on a low render distance it reaches less than 128 blocks.
  • Titles from commands or other add-ons hide the bar for a moment, until it's drawn again a tick later.
  • Works in single player, on Realms and on dedicated servers. You don't need to turn on any experiments.

Requirements

  • Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50 or newer.
