Legacy Raids
Bring back the classic Minecraft raid mechanic!
Legacy Raids restores the old raid-farming gameplay where defeating an Illager/Pillager Captain carrying a banner gives the player Bad Omen, allowing a vanilla raid to be started without needing an Ominous Bottle.
The addon does not create custom raid waves or replace Minecraft's raid system. Everything is handled by vanilla Minecraft, including raid waves, enemies, difficulty, rewards, and raid behavior.
โ๏ธ Classic Raid Flow
Pillager Captain → Bad Omen → Village → Raid Omen → Vanilla Raid
Defeat a Pillager Captain and receive Bad Omen. Enter a village and Minecraft will handle the rest using its normal raid mechanics.
Once the raid is completed, simply defeat another Pillager Captain to obtain Bad Omen again and start another raid.
๐ณ๏ธ Configuration Menu
The addon includes a simple configuration menu.
To open it:
-
Take any banner.
-
Rename it to "Raid".
-
Use the banner.
You do not need to use a banner dropped by a Pillager Captain. Any banner can be used to open the menu as long as it has the correct name.
The addon is enabled by default, so the classic mechanic works immediately after installing the addon.
The menu allows you to enable or disable the Legacy Raids functionality whenever you want.
๐งช Ominous Bottles Still Work
Legacy Raids does not remove, replace, or interfere with the normal Ominous Bottle system.
Villagers that can provide Ominous Bottles will continue to provide them normally, regardless of whether Legacy Raids is enabled or disabled.
This means you can use both systems:
-
Classic method: Defeat a Pillager Captain → Bad Omen.
-
Modern method: Obtain an Ominous Bottle → Bad Omen.
Both mechanics can coexist normally.
๐น Player Kills & Projectiles
The addon supports Pillager Captain kills caused by the player, including supported projectile kills such as:
-
โ๏ธ Direct player attacks
-
๐น Arrows
-
๐ฑ Tridents
The goal is to make the classic raid-farming mechanic work naturally with different ways of defeating the captain.
๐ Vanilla Raids & Rewards
Legacy Raids does not spawn custom enemies or create custom raid rewards.
Minecraft's own raid system remains responsible for:
-
Raid waves
-
Raid enemies
-
Raid difficulty
-
Raid victory
-
Raid defeat
-
Vanilla rewards
-
Hero of the Village
-
Normal raid behavior
This keeps the addon lightweight and compatible with the vanilla raid experience.
๐พ Perfect for Classic Raid Farms
Legacy Raids is designed especially for players who miss the old raid-farming mechanics and want to build classic raid farms, emerald farms, and other vanilla-style raid farms without relying exclusively on Ominous Bottles.
The addon simply restores the old trigger while allowing Minecraft to handle the actual raid.
โ๏ธ Performance
Legacy Raids is designed to be lightweight.
It does not constantly scan the world or run a repeating timer to search for Pillager Captains.
The main functionality is event-driven, meaning the addon reacts when the relevant events occur instead of continuously processing the world.
๐ Achievements
Legacy Raids does not intentionally disable Minecraft achievements.
The addon is designed to restore the classic mechanic while keeping the rest of the vanilla raid system intact.
๐ Enable / Disable
Legacy Raids can be enabled or disabled from its configuration menu.
Default state: ENABLED
When enabled:
Pillager Captain → Bad Omen → Vanilla Raid
When disabled:
The addon stops providing the restored classic captain-to-Bad-Omen functionality.
However, Ominous Bottles and their normal vanilla behavior are not disabled or changed.
๐ Important
Legacy Raids does not automatically start raids and does not automatically create infinite or stacked raids.
After completing a raid, you need to defeat another Pillager Captain to obtain Bad Omen again.
This keeps the gameplay close to the classic Minecraft raid-farming experience while allowing modern vanilla mechanics to handle the raid itself.
