Kai Boyfriend Companion

Hey guys, Racing Raftaar back again. After I released the Aria companion add-on, I received a ton of comments and messages from you guys asking for a male version. It makes total sense because everyone wants different types of companions for their survival worlds. So, I went straight back to the code editor and started working on a brand new project. Today I am very excited to release the Kai Boyfriend add-on. Just like my previous companion pack, this is designed to make your single player survival experience a lot more fun and interactive so you do not feel like you are exploring the world completely alone.

​Design and Concept

​I wanted Kai to look really cool and stylish, so I spent a lot of time working on his skin and textures. I took some visual inspiration from modern K-pop fashion and anime characters to give him a clean, trendy outfit and a good looking hairstyle. I created a dedicated resource pack just for him so his custom animations run perfectly. When you see him walking around, running to catch up with you, or swinging his weapon to fight monsters, all the movements look incredibly smooth and natural compared to normal vanilla mobs.  

​How to Tame and Interact

​Finding Kai in your survival world is very easy. I programmed him to spawn naturally in plains and forest biomes during the daytime. When you spot him, he will just be walking around minding his own business. To tame him and make him your companion, you will need to give him a diamond or a gold ingot. I thought a gold ingot would be a nice alternative if you are running low on diamonds. Once you feed him the item, you will see some heart particles, and he will immediately become loyal to you. From that point on, he will follow you everywhere.

​Companion Features

​Kai is a highly capable survival partner. I programmed his behavior pack with advanced combat AI so he will actively protect you from danger. If a zombie, creeper, or spider gets too close and tries to attack you, Kai will step in and fight them off. He deals solid damage and has a good amount of health to survive tough battles in caves or the Nether. On top of his fighting skills, I also gave him a custom backpack system. If you interact with him, it opens up a custom inventory menu. You can store your extra cobblestone, ores, and food right inside his inventory, which is incredibly helpful during long mining trips.  

​Installation Guide

​This add-on comes with both the behavior pack and the resource pack files to make everything work perfectly. When you import the files into your Minecraft game, please double check your world settings to make sure both the Kai behavior pack and the Kai resource pack are fully activated. If you forget to activate the resource pack, his 3D model will look broken, and if you forget the behavior pack, none of his AI will function at all.  

​Beta APIs Setup

​Since this add-on uses custom scripting to make the inventory system and the advanced combat AI work properly, you have to enable the Beta APIs experiment. Before you load your world, go to the game settings, scroll down to the experiments toggle, and turn on Beta APIs. If you skip this step, his custom features will just break and he will act like a normal brainless entity.
