That is correct - pre-MoP rares can only be triggered via targeting, mouseover, or nameplate detection.

There is a ticket for this already: https://www.wowace.com/projects/archy/issues/674

I know what the issue is, and should get to fixing it soon.

There was an issue with the file processors - is this still happening for your project? If so, please give me the URL here and I'll kick-start it.

posted a message on running pkgmeta.yaml in local dev environment

We don't have anything that we'd release to the public, but the method that most people have used for the past 10 years is to let the project build Alpha files - those have to be opted-in to install on the App, so only users who know what they are doing and expect breakage (hopefully) will encounter issues. You can then check the Alpha file to see if everything was correctly built and make a Release file if so.

Preferences -> NPCs -> Rare -> Zone to disable individual NPCs

Preferences -> NPCs -> Rare -> Detection -> Continent to disable entire zones.

That means they've spawned and NPCScan detected them by points on the World Map - look at the upper-right portion of the two that are shown there; that's the source of detection.

    In reply to Netahi:

Are you talking about .Overlay? If so, I didn't break the mod - the CurseForge file processor did by corrupting the binary data in the PathData.lua file. Follow the instructions I posted earlier, and you'll be up and running again. I cannot fix this myself, since another update will also be corrupted. I need to wait until the issue is fixed on CurseForge.

    In reply to Stinkybird:

_NPCScan is no longer in existence; I threw its code away and started over, with NPCScan being the result. At some point, I intend to do the same to .Overlay but haven't yet found the time. When I do, they'll likely integrate in that manner again.

The current problem with the overlays not showing up is file corruption from CurseForge's packager in the latest update. To fix this, you'll need to download the old version, extract it, and copy its PathData.lua file over to the new installation. I'm hoping the CurseForge issue will be fixed soon, so I can make a new build. See https://www.wowace.com/projects/npcscan-overlay/issues/73 for details.

posted a message on Updates not pushing to Curse

The notification was added recently because we have been inundated with support tickets from people who have projects (primarily in Minecraft) which only contain Alpha files; such projects will not sync to the App at all. Projects will only sync to the App when there is at least one Release file, since installation of Alpha and Beta files is an opt-in scenario - otherwise, there would be hundreds of seemingly empty projects showing up in the App since the majority of users do not opt-in for anything other than Release files.

The message could be more clear on this, certainly, but it immediately points out to people that if they want people to actually use the project they need to do more than upload Alpha versions.
