Zocial
Zocial is a lightweight social utility addon for World of Warcraft (Retail) that keeps your most important social activity visible without cluttering your UI. It adds a compact notification bar with quick-access buttons and robust whisper tracking so you can stay on top of conversations even when Blizzard chat windows, filters, or popouts don’t behave the way you expect.
Key Features
### Notification Bar (Draggable + Lockable)
Zocial creates a small notification bar that can be moved anywhere on your screen.
- Drag to reposition when unlocked
- Lock to prevent accidental movement (the drag grip hides when locked)
- Designed to stay compact and out of the way while still being easy to click
- Stable button ordering for quick muscle memory
### Whisper Tracking (WoW + Battle.net)
Zocial tracks whispers separately for:
- Standard character whispers (WoW)
- Battle.net whispers
Unread activity is shown on the bar, and Zocial can open managed whisper popout windows to keep conversations organized.
### Managed Popouts + Reply Support
Zocial can open temporary whisper windows (“popouts”) and keep them consistent:
- Incoming and outgoing messages appear in the correct popout
- WoW and Battle.net conversations are kept separate to prevent cross-injection
- Unread indicators are cleared only through explicit actions (not by accidental clicks)
### Persistent Whisper Log (Failsafe)
To prevent lost whispers, Zocial maintains a persistent whisper log saved between sessions.
- Records incoming/outgoing whispers (WoW and Battle.net)
- Includes an in-game viewer so you can review messages even if a window was closed or missed
## Configuration
Zocial includes an in-game options panel to configure behavior such as:
- Notification bar lock state and positioning
- Whisper handling mode (off / guild / all)
## Compatibility
- Built for Retail and modern WoW APIs/events
- Designed to be lightweight and play nicely with other UI addons
- Can host external addon buttons on the notification bar when supported
## Notes
Zocial is intentionally focused: it doesn’t try to replace your entire chat system. It’s meant to be a small, dependable layer that improves whisper visibility, reduces missed messages, and gives you a clean set of social controls you can place anywhere.
If you have feedback or edge cases to report (especially around whispers and popouts), please include which whisper type (WoW vs Battle.net) and what you expected to happen—those details help a lot.
