WTFix — Retired

WTFix has been retired.

The WoW Forever SavedVariables persistence problem that WTFix was created to work around has been fixed in current Forever builds.

I have also confirmed in the native client that addon SavedVariables now persist normally without WTFix.

Because the underlying problem is gone, WTFix is no longer required or recommended for current WoW Forever builds.

WTFix 0.9.3 was the final release.

All CurseForge files have been archived and there will be no further WTFix releases for the original recovery project.

Already have WTFix installed?

Windows

With WoW completely closed, use the included:

Uninstall WTFix.cmd

This removes WTFix preparation and managed dependency entries while preserving your SavedVariables.

After that, remove the WTFix addon itself through CurseForge, your addon manager, or manually if you no longer want it installed.

Linux

WTFix 0.9.3 did not include an automatic Linux uninstaller.

Preserve your SavedVariables before changing any prepared files and refer to the archived project documentation for the old preparation layout.

Why was WTFix retired?

WTFix existed specifically because WoW Forever could fail to restore addon SavedVariables correctly across reloads and client restarts.

That behavior has now been fixed.

Rather than continue maintaining a complex recovery layer for a problem that no longer exists, WTFix has been retired.

Thanks to everyone who tested it, reported issues and helped improve it while the Forever SavedVariables bug was active.
