Malicious Boss Mod

Built for the raid leader, loaded for everyone. A soft raid-leading tool at its core — marks, notes and callouts on target — plus cooldown, mana, dispel, blessing, gear and loot tools for the whole raid.

Malicious Boss Mod

A boss mod with its own announcer. Spoken boss callouts and ability timers in every TBC raid out of the box — each call to the one player who can act on it — plus marks, notes and callouts the instant you target a mob, heal prediction on any raid frames, a live threat list, kick and threat warnings, a raid that forms and sorts itself, a paladin blessing planner, a dispel board, a loot history, a spoken 10-second pull countdown, and a gear-and-consumables check, all in your language.

Malicious Boss Mod is a raid and dungeon assistant for TBC Anniversary (2.5.6), built for the person calling the pulls. It runs on packs: a group of mobs that stand together, identified by NPC ID. Target one and its marks, class notes and timed callouts appear on screen automatically. Build a pack once and everyone in your guild runs off the same page.

It speaks. The download includes MaliciousBossMod_Voice — a professionally recorded announcer pack. MBM watches what every boss casts and works out the call itself — Out of the fire to the player standing in it, Dispel magic to the healer who can remove it, Don't move the instant Flame Wreath lands on you — and ships already knowing every TBC raid boss. Voice can be the announcer, the game's text-to-speech, or off; every call shows on screen regardless. Never a wall of sound: nothing outside instances, no line twice in five seconds, never two lines within three.

It ships with 904 packs already built — every hostile group across all 9 TBC raids and all 16 dungeons, normal and heroic — so the groundwork is done before you log in.

Plays in your language

Ten languages, and it picks yours on its own. English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 한국어, Deutsch, Français, Русский, Español, Português and Italiano. Leave it on Auto — the default — and the addon follows your game client: a French client comes up in French, a Russian client in Russian, nothing to set up. Or click the globe beside the close button to force a language.

Every word the addon puts on screen is covered — the pack editor, the mark bar, the note editor, Settings, the consumables and gear check, the group planner, the Malice tools, spoken prompts, and every chat message. Class names, dispel schools and the Malice tab names follow the addon's language too, not just your game client, so the interface reads the same whatever client you run. Mob and zone names — all 597 creatures and every raid and dungeon — show in your language as well, taken from the game's own name data, on any client and before you have even seen the mob. Individual spell names stay tied to your game client on purpose, so they always match the rest of your in-game UI. (Italian and Brazilian-Portuguese get the full interface and help guide; their mob and zone names stay in English, as those were never localised in this era.)

A guide built into the window

Click the "?" beside the globe for a full help guide: topics down the left, every button and mechanic explained in plain language, translated into all ten languages.

Call the pull, not the clicks

  • Automatic marking — Skull, X and the rest land on a pack's mobs as they come into view, in the order you set, with no scrambling for target icons mid-pull. The addon holds your enemy nameplates at their maximum range and re-sweeps the pack, so a whole pull lights up from as far out as the game allows, not one mob at a time.
  • Hover to mark — prefer to mark on demand? Point at any one mob and press a key to mark the entire pull in front of you at once — every nearby mob you've set a mark for, even ones from different packs.
  • Health-based notes on all eight marks — instructions appear at the health percentages you choose, and every raid mark (all eight, skull included) carries its own notes and timers, so you can run timed calls on several targets at once.
  • Class & per-mob notes — each class gets its own line (kicks, dispels, crowd control) and each mob its own target note. Raiders see only what applies to them.
  • On-screen bar & spoken prompts — the key calls are heard as well as seen.
  • Clear that actually clears — one button wipes every raid icon and keeps it clear for the rest of the fight, reaching even off-screen mobs across the room, and never leaving a stray icon on your own character. Click it a second time to re-arm and re-mark what's in front of you. Bind it to a key from Settings — any key or combo, Alt, Ctrl and Shift included.
  • Spoken, raid-wide pull timer — start a countdown from the bar or /mbm pull; with the included MaliciousBossMod_Voice pack it counts down in MBM's own announcer voice, one number per second, then reads PULL! on screen. When a leader starts it, the same synced countdown appears for everyone running the addon — not just your view.
  • Auto-invite — set a keyword and anyone who whispers it to you is invited automatically, from the Tools tab or /mbm inv.
  • Auto-summon — the moment you begin a summon (a warlock Ritual of Summoning or a meeting stone), the group is told to click the portal, from the Tools tab or /mbm summon.

Heal prediction on your raid frames

Incoming healing drawn straight onto the default player, target, party and raid frames — nothing to configure — and MBM scans for other addons' unit frames too, so any health bar it can recognise gets the same overlay. The empty part of each bar is cut in half: direct heals in the bottom half, one class-colored segment per casting healer (paladin pink, priest white, shaman dark blue, druid orange) with the spell's icon and a live cast timer — and HoTs, Prayer of Mending, Power Word: Shield and Earth Shield in the top half, each strip worth the healing still to come and shrinking as ticks, charges and absorbed hits are spent. Every direct healing spell and rank in TBC is modeled with the caster's bonus healing, and real tick sizes calibrate themselves from the combat log. MBM also speaks the protocol other prediction addons use — both ways — so mixed raids see everything; while MBM's prediction is on it owns the frames, and turning it off hands them back instantly. Every piece is a switch on its own Heal predict Settings tab: icons, timers, class colors, the whole feature — or any individual healing spell, each with its own icon and tick in the Heals list.

HP and mana share — the game delays vitals updates for far-away raiders; MBM users broadcast their own the moment they change, so a raider a hundred meters out drops on your screen the instant he takes the hit.

MBM calls the fight

  • Interrupt callouts — when a marked cast starts, exactly one raider gets a private on-screen KICK cue, picked by who is really in range, who is already on the mob, melee before casters, healers last. Every MBM client computes the same answer, so one name fires and nobody wastes two kicks on one cast.
  • Threat dump cue — at your warn threshold the addon names the drop you actually have ready — Feign Death, Fade, Vanish, Soulshatter, Invisibility — and if a mage pulls anyway, the cue becomes Ice Block.
  • Loose mob glow — assigned tanks see a pulsing red ring on any mob attacking someone who isn't a tank, unless it is crowd-controlled. Deliberate class tanking — a rogue evasion-tanking, a hunter kiting, a warlock or mage assignment — is recognized and left alone.
  • Threat pull warning — any non-tank about to rip aggro gets a raid warning by name before it happens. Run it on every fight or bosses only, set the threshold with the Warn at slider (50–100%, default 95% — the pull warning, the dump cue and the threat list's red numbers all follow it), and in a raid the warning is spoken aloud as it goes out.
  • Threat list — your current target's threat table, ranked: each raider's threat number with their percent-to-pull beside it, the game's own readout where the tank holds 100% and every dps sees exactly how far from ripping aggro they stand. Percents turn red past your warn threshold.

The mob's toolkit, on its nameplate

Turn on Show mob abilities on nameplates and every hostile mob carries two neat rows of its known ability icons on its nameplate. The abilities are the ones MBM has recorded that NPC cast — the list fills in as you fight and from what your group syncs — and each icon shows a live cooldown number learned from the gap between casts, clearing the moment the ability is back up.

  • Speak ability names — a voice names each ability as a mob casts it, through the game's own text-to-speech. The name comes from your own client, so it is always in your game language — a Chinese client hears the Chinese name, a French client the French one. No voice pack to download.
  • Choose which abilities show — every ability row on a mob's detail panel carries a tick; untick one to hide it from the icons and the voice, every rank, every mob that casts it.
  • Position, size and offset — anchor the icons to any side of the nameplate, set their size, and nudge the block pixel-by-pixel with Offset X and Y until it sits perfectly against any nameplate style.

The raid forms itself

Tick Form raid automatically on the Tools tab: when you lead and the party fills, it converts to a raid and sets Master Looter; preset a name and the loot passes to that player the moment they join, assistant included; preset your tanks and MBM treats them as tanks the moment they join, so the threat warning leaves them alone and the loose mob glow knows them. Every step happens exactly once — your own changes are never overridden. Auto-sort re-runs as people join and stands down once the raid is full - following the layout you typed into the 25 Raid groups slots, or the smart class sort when you have left them empty. Late joiners sync automatically — anyone joining mid-raid receives the packs and triggers on their own. Pairs with auto-invite on a keyword: from first whisper to sorted groups without touching a menu.

Malice — a live raid toolkit in five tabs

Open the Malice window from the bar or /mbm rc. Five tabs sit across the top; every display is off until you switch it on.

Malice Companion — four optional, independent on-screen tools, each with its own show/hide toggle, size and opacity. A Test preview button fills them with sample raiders so you can place them out of combat.

  • Ability feed — the words scroll up when a raider uses an ability you've ticked. Just the names and abilities: no box, no background, and simultaneous lines stack cleanly instead of overlapping. Its tab is organised into a Settings section (two tidy columns — the feed's own options on one side, the threat and interrupt warnings on the other) and an Abilities section with the per-class list. An optional sound cue plays when a tracked ability fires — or pick Voice and it speaks the ability's name aloud instead. Track uptime flags raiders whose combat activity drops under a threshold you set.
  • Mana list — live mana bars for the group, filtered by healers or specific classes.
  • Threat list — the ranked threat table described above, in class colors, dragged, scaled and locked like the other tools.
  • Cooldown board — who has their major cooldowns available, combined per ability with a count ("Rebirth: 2 ready") and a hover tooltip for each player's timer by name. Anyone else running the addon reports their own cooldowns to you, so you can see each individual raider's cooldowns even for people out of range you never saw cast.

Malice Auras — your own buffs and cooldowns, picked by ticking a box. It reads the spellbook of whatever class you logged in on and lays every ability you actually know out as a tick box, grouped the way the spellbook groups them, with nothing ticked to start with. Tick one and it drops onto the aura box: one icon per ability, with the number counting down on the icon and the game's own sweep underneath — seconds of buff while it is up, then seconds of cooldown the moment it drops, so a glance tells you whether it is up, how long you have and when you get it back. Ready abilities sit there at full colour; stacks show in the corner. Lay it out horizontal or vertical, 1 to 10 icons before it wraps, at any size from 16 to 48. The list is per character — your paladin is not your warrior — while the size, direction and position are shared. The box switches itself on with your first tick, and it drags and locks with every other Malice frame. Passives, professions and secondary skills are left out. If you would rather type, the Buff watch tab in Settings takes spell IDs directly — it is the same list, seen twice.

Malice dispels — a compact board of who in the raid can remove what: poison, disease, magic and curse. Hide the schools you don't care about, and a Test button pops up sample boxes so you can place the display out of combat.

Malice Power — a paladin blessing planner. It lays out every paladin against the party or raid and casts blessings straight from the grid: blessing icons rather than words, a quick-switch box that sets a whole row at once, left-click for Greater and right-click for Lesser, and per-player Lesser assignments by right-clicking a cell. An on-screen bar shows a red count of who still needs a buff and a green count of who has it. Save and load whole plans, import a saved group roster to plan before the invites go out, and Clear repopulates from your group after five seconds so it never stays blank.

Malice Records — a three-month history of epic and legendary loot, grouped by raid. Open a raid to see the first trash kill, the last boss kill and the total raid time, then every boss in kill order with its kill time, how long the fight took, and the loot it dropped. When your raid awards loot by rolling, the records line up with the confirmed winner and exact rolls behind each drop. A raid with no boss kills and no loot clears itself out of the history after a day. An Export button hands you a copyable document of the whole night — Item – Rolls – Awarded to — as readable text or a CSV for loot spreadsheets. Also /mbm loot.

Gear, consumables and fast swaps

  • Raid-wide readiness check — food, flasks, elixirs, scrolls and blessings, weapon oils and sharpening stones, plus durability, missing enchants and empty sockets, all in one window.
  • GearScore & average item level for every raider, using the standard calculation.
  • Eight gear-swap boxes, per character — save a set, then Ctrl-click or a keybind to wear it. Each character keeps its own boxes, so your warrior's layout never shows up on your paladin. Drag boxes to reorder, give any box a custom icon from the gear you have on, and tie a box to your primary or secondary talents so wearing the set switches your spec too. Bind a box to any key or mouse button — with or without Shift, Ctrl or Alt — from its right-click menu. A swap asked for in combat fires the moment you drop out.

One source of truth for the whole raid

  • Live background sync — your packs and assignments broadcast to everyone running the addon and update the instant you edit them. Nobody imports anything by hand.
  • One key-holder — the raid or party leader holds the master copy, so notes follow whoever is leading. The leader can also hand the key to a marker by typing their name in Settings → Key holder — and take it back at any time by erasing it.
  • Export strings — hand your whole setup to someone outside the raid in a single paste.

Build it your way

  • Full pack editor — build, edit and save your own packs and strategy profiles for any encounter.
  • Blank by default — packs ship with empty note boxes, so the calls you write are yours, in your own words. The mob groupings, pull order and mark slots are already in place.
  • 25-slot group planner — lay out raid groups before the invite goes out, then sort people into the groups you planned.
  • A movable, resizable interface — the mark bar and every Malice panel can be dragged and scaled to fit your layout. One Lock frames button in Tools locks every Malice frame at once: locked frames can't be dragged and clicks pass straight through them, so a mob standing behind the feed stays clickable.
  • Tabbed Settings — options are grouped into tabs (General, Heal predict, Key holder, Note bubbles, Tools, Maintenance, Profiles) so nothing is buried in a wall of controls. Left-click the minimap button to toggle marking on or off, right-click to jump straight into Settings.
