Wishwell Forever

Loot database for WoW Forever: ask Wisp anything, upgrade tips on every tooltip, alerts when wishlist loot drops.

Wishwell: Forever

Got a question mid-game? Just ask. Type something like "where does this drop?" or "what's my best upgrade?" and Wisp, Wishwell's little companion, digs up the answer from the addon's own loot, quest and item-set data. It works offline, and no, it's not an AI. It's just a really good look-up.

Hover over any item and Wishwell tells you if it's an upgrade for you, and why. Stick something on your wishlist and you'll get a message, a sound and a chat line the second it drops. Works solo, at any level, in WoW Forever.

Heads up: WoW Forever is brand new, so some loot data is still filling in. Wishwell is honest about what it knows and what it doesn't. More on that in Good to know below.

Ask Wisp

  • Use the Ask box at the top of the window, the Wisp tab, or /ww ask ...
  • Ask where an item drops, what a boss drops, or about a dungeon, raid, quest or item set
  • Try "what should I do next?", "best upgrade" (overall, for one slot, or in one raid), "which dungeon should I run?", "where should I level?", "my wishlist", or ask about your gold, XP and training
  • Wisp knows how the game works too, using the Classic level 60 rules Forever is built on: hit, weapon skill, glancing blows, defense, crit, mana regen, rested XP, mount speed, loot rolls, respec costs and plenty more. It looks at your actual gear, buffs, talents and spells and tells you what to do about it ("why do I pull so much threat?")
  • Check me and "check my stats" look over your stats, gear and enchants against your build and list your biggest upgrades
  • Follow-ups just work. After an answer, "what does it drop?" or "wish for it" know what you were talking about
  • Typos are fine. Wisp figures it out ("I think you mean Hogger")

Upgrade tips everywhere

  • Every item tooltip (bags, vendors, the auction house, loot) tells you if it's an upgrade, what changes, and why. Something like "The 16 Spirit you gain is worth more to a Mage than the 3 Intellect you lose"
  • If a loot roll is an upgrade for you, you'll get a chat line saying it's worth a Need
  • Quest rewards get the best pick labelled. If none of them are upgrades, it tells you which one sells for the most
  • You don't even need the Wishwell window open

Wishlist and drop alerts

  • Hit Wish on anything you want
  • When it drops or comes up for a roll, you get an on-screen message, a sound and a chat line. Loot it and it comes off your list
  • Wishlist tracker: a little list you can drag anywhere, with stuff that drops where you're standing at the top (/ww tracker)
  • Group wishlists: in a dungeon you can see what your group wants (and they can see yours), so nobody accidentally rolls against a friend
  • Walk into a dungeon and a pop-up shows what drops there for your class: wishlist stuff first, then upgrades

Loot, try-on and item sets

  • Every raid and dungeon in WoW Forever, new ones included. Pick a boss or search everything at once
  • Filter by zone, class, rarity and slot. The list jumps to whatever dungeon you walk into
  • Click any item to see it on your own character. Look for the Upgrade and Best upgrade tags, or sort with Upgrades first
  • Drop rates, plus roughly how many runs that works out to. Wishwell also counts the boss kills it sees and switches to your own numbers after ten kills
  • 197 item sets (Classic tier, dungeon, PvP and the new Forever sets). Try on a whole set, check its bonuses, or Wish all

Everything else

  • What next? One screen for "okay, now what?": the best quest nearby, zones with the most quest XP, a dungeon for your level and how many upgrades are in it for you, and what your spells will cost
  • Quests: every quest your character can do, by zone, best XP first
  • Spell training: visit your trainer once and you'll see every spell coming up and what each level costs
  • Professions: the recipes that'll level your skill and how many you can make right now. Pin a recipe to keep its materials on screen while you shop
  • Legacy: your Legacy challenges and points, with the ones closest to done at the top
  • Characters: level, XP, gold, wishlist and training for every character on your account
  • Plus gold goals, a run summary when you leave a dungeon, and a level-up pop-up showing what just unlocked
  • New to the game? Wisp explains loot rolls, reward choices and trainers the first time you run into them

Good to know

  • The loot list fills itself in. Loot nobody's seen in Forever yet shows the Classic loot as a stand-in, marked "Classic loot, not confirmed". Wishwell remembers what it sees drop and shares it with group members who have it too. If it's never heard of a raid or dungeon, it adds it the first time you walk in.
  • The new raids start out empty. Blizzard hasn't published their loot, so they fill in as bosses go down.
  • Quests start as Classic's. Forever's new quests get added as you pick them up, and after that every character on your account sees them.
  • Drop rates are Classic's until your own kill counts kick in. Forever might have changed them.
  • Wisp doesn't know where NPCs stand or who sells what yet. Talent builds, the quest guide and map pins are waiting on data Forever doesn't have yet.
  • Take the upgrade verdict as a guide. The stat differences are the game's own numbers, but "Upgrade" is a rule of thumb for what your class usually values, not a full sim.
  • Wishwell never rolls, loots or equips anything for you.

Running raids? Wishwell pairs nicely with Raid Night, my ingame softreserve addon.
