Win95Maze brings the classic Windows 95/98 3D Maze screensaver into World of Warcraft as a fullscreen UI addon.
It recreates the old-school maze look with chunky pixel textures, right-wall-following camera movement, start and finish markers, OpenGL billboards, picture walls, animated pattern walls, rotating wireframe-style objects, and a scuttling rat wandering through the maze.
Main Features
-
Classic Windows 95/98 3D Maze feel
A nostalgic software-raycasted maze rendered directly inside the WoW UI. -
Automatic screensaver mode
Can start when you go AFK or after a configurable period of inactivity. -
Stops when you return
Mouse movement, clicks, keyboard input, movement, or other activity will dismiss the maze. -
Windows-style options panel
Open a retro Display Properties-inspired settings window to configure AFK activation, inactivity activation, and wait time. -
Generated mazes
Each run builds a new 10x10 maze with randomized objects, walls, decorations, and paths. -
Performance-conscious rendering
Uses pre-created texture pools and a configurable render throttle so the animation runs without constantly creating new UI objects.
Useful Slash Commands
/maze
Start or stop the maze manually.
/maze off
Stop the maze immediately.
/ss
Open the screensaver options panel.
/screensaver
Also opens the options panel.
/maze reset
Generate a fresh maze while the screensaver is running.
/maze fps 10-30
Set the render throttle. Lower values may reduce load; higher values make the animation smoother.
Notes
The addon is purely visual. It does not alter gameplay, combat, rotations, keybinds, nameplates, unit frames, or character controls. It is a nostalgic idle/AFK screensaver for players who want a bit of Windows 95 weirdness inside Azeroth.
