What's new

3.1.0

New: the Live tab

A reader's digest of what your guild is posting. Instead of scrolling guild chat or the LFG channel, open Live and see at a glance who is actively asking for help, a group, a crafter or a trade, and whether they are still around.

  • Guild chat and guildmates' posts in LookingForGroup, Trade, General and World are sorted into color-blocked sections: Dungeon runs, Raids, PvP, Enchants, Herbs and mats, Crafting, Trade, Summons and ports, Help and quests, Questions, Guild events.
  • Only asks and questions make the board. Banter stays out, and so do strangers in public channels.
  • Each line shows who asked, what they said and how long ago. Names dim when that person has logged off and show the away icon when they are AFK.
  • The same ask posted in guild chat and LFG shows once, tagged where it was seen. Reposts refresh the line instead of stacking.
  • A thin life bar drains over each ask's 30 minutes. A quick "nvm", "filled" or "got one" from the same person clears their ask right away.
  • Hover an ask for the full message, where that person is right now and their group. Crafting asks that name a profession list who has it online.
  • Click to whisper, right-click to invite, the same as the zone view.
  • The tab appears once there is live activity. It is gold so it reads as its own view, opens with "While you've been on", and gently pulses when new asks arrive while you are on another tab. New asks glow for a moment when they land.
  • Click Live again to go back to your tab. WhereGuild always opens to the roster.

Also

  • When the tab row gets tight, empty tabs step aside so Live and Invited always fit.

3.0.0

A full rebuild of WhereGuild: a new zone view, profession search, invites, and a cleaner modern look.

Where everyone is

  • Zone view: each zone is a block with its name on the left and everyone there stacked beside it, so you can see at a glance where the guild is clumped up.
  • Raids, dungeons, PvP and travel come first under small colored labels, tinted to match (orange raid, purple dungeon, red PvP, gray travel), biggest group first.
  • Dungeon counts read as party fill (3/5, 5/5) so you can tell a full run from one with room.
  • World zones follow, grouped by continent with the one you are on first. Within a continent, groups come first (largest down), then single zones A to Z.
  • Zones with 5 or more guildmates get a bright count so the big clumps stand out.
  • Every label folds. Folded sections glow gold and breathe slowly, with a count of who is hidden.
  • Filter tabs across the top: All, Raid, Dungeon, PvP, Travel, World, each with a live count.

Who is active

  • Just arrived: guildmates who moved to a new zone or logged in within the last few minutes get a small gold "new" tag, and when two or more land in the same zone together the zone shows "3 just arrived". Great for spotting a group forming while it is still worth asking to join.
  • Who is grouped together: a small colored tick before a name shows they are in a group, and people in the same group share a color (your group is always green). Hover for "In a party (3/5), led by Booker". Works for your own group always, and for guildmates running WhereGuild.
  • AFK and DND guildmates are dimmed with the game's away or busy icon right after their name, listed after the active people in their zone, and counted in the footer.
  • Characters below max level show their level next to their name; max level players just show the name.
  • Class bar: a thin, softly colored strip under the tabs (full color while you hover it) showing the max-level class mix for whatever you are viewing. Hover for the breakdown, who can heal or tank, and how many are leveling. Click a class to show only them; click it again, right-click the bar or press Esc to clear. Hidden when fewer than 3 people are in view.
  • Offline toggle in the footer adds an Offline section grouped by last seen, most recent first, each name marked with how long ago. Today and This week are open; This month and Longer start folded with a count, click to show. Off by default.

Search

  • Search by name, realm, zone, class, rank, guild notes or profession. Several words narrow it down: mage strat, healer 60.
  • Roles: tank, healer, dps.
  • Professions by name or shorthand: tailor, bs, lw, ench, alch, fa.
  • Skill level: tailor 275 finds tailors at 275 or higher. Character level: 60 or 55+.
  • Accent-free: bjorn finds Björn, zaolaandoor finds the accented name.

Professions

  • Guildmates running WhereGuild share their professions and skill levels automatically.
  • Professions are also read from guild notes and officer notes (Tailor 300, Alch/Herb, LW 285 Skin, BS300, [TL]/[Alc]300), so guildmates without the addon show up too. Shared skill levels win over notes.
  • Profession data is cached account wide, so offline crafters can still be found, and pruned after 60 days of silence.

Actions

  • Click a name to whisper.
  • Right-click a name to invite: a gold cast bar marked Inviting fills across their line and the invite goes out when it completes. Click the name again to cancel.
  • Shift-click puts the name into your chat box. Ctrl-click pops up the name ready to copy with Ctrl+C.
  • Click an offline name to copy it, or to fill the Send Mail recipient when your mailbox is open.
  • Invited tab: appears once you invite someone and lists everyone you invited today. Invited names get a small inv tag.

Look and feel

  • Names show without the realm. The realm is on the hover card, and only shows in the list when two guildmates share a name. Copy and mail use Name-Realm when it is needed to arrive.
  • Flat, translucent dark window with a centered title. The footer shows online and away counts, the guild name and the Offline toggle.
  • Zone blocks alternate between two shades, and every other person inside a block gets a faint stripe.
  • Hover a zone to see everyone there with level and rank. Hover a name for a card with class, rank, zone, professions as skill bars, and notes.
  • Faint gold hover that slowly breathes.
  • The list fades softly at the edges when there is more to scroll, with a count of how many online guildmates are below.
  • Esc peels back one layer at a time: class filter, then search, then the window.
  • The window width fits its content (zone names plus the longest possible character name), and the corner grip resizes the height. Size and position are remembered. Always opens scrolled to the top.
  • /whereguild or /wg toggles the window. /whereguild tailor opens it with a search. /whereguild scale 1.2 sets window scale. /whereguild reset restores size, scale and position.

Under the hood

  • The list reacts right away when a guildmate comes online, goes offline, joins or leaves, and refreshes every 10 seconds while open.
  • Addon traffic is small: one message at login, one after your professions change, one when your group changes (plus a refresh every 2 minutes while grouped), and a once-a-day request per guild.
  • No chat message on login.
