Weapon Damage Tooltips

Weapon Damage Tooltips adds one line to the tooltip of every weapon in World of Warcraft: Forever: the weapon's average damage. The game shows only a damage range such as "12 - 34 Damage". The average is the middle of that range, so you can compare two weapons with one number. It is also the figure that weapon-based instant attacks such as Mortal Strike, Sinister Strike and Holy Strike build on, so it tells you which weapon those hit harder with.

What you see

Hover a weapon. A line is added at the bottom of its item tooltip:

• Average Weapon Damage: 23.0 for a weapon with a 12 - 34 damage range.
• If you have a weapon equipped in the slot it would replace, the difference is shown next to it: Average Weapon Damage: 26.0 (+3.0 vs. MH) in green when the new weapon is higher, or (-3.0 vs. MH) in red when it is lower. MH stands for main hand and OH for off hand.
• A weapon that can go in either hand (most one-handers) gets up to two lines, one against your main hand and one against your off hand. Two-handed weapons are compared with your main hand, and weapons that only fit the off hand with your off hand.
• If both weapons have the same average, or you have nothing equipped in that slot, you see the average alone. Ranged weapons show the average without a comparison. Items with no damage line (armour, trinkets) are not changed.

Why use it

• Pick the better weapon for your instant strikes at a glance, without doing the sum in your head for every drop and vendor item.
• See straight away whether a weapon is better for instant strikes in your main hand or your off hand.
• Nothing to configure and no extra windows: it only adds the line.

Details

• Built for World of Warcraft: Forever (Interface 16001). It is not made for Retail or Classic Era.
• It reads the damage line already on the tooltip and the weapon you have equipped. It does not change your items, send anything anywhere or save any data. It has no slash commands and no options.
• It has no dependencies and no other addon is needed.
• It adds the line once per tooltip, and it does not repeat if the tooltip is refreshed.
